BladeLord Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Hi... i`m Pedro and i`m from Peru... now, i`d like to ask if any of you know how to deactivate the fly by wire or ACM system in flanker 2.0. I remember than i used to deactivate it with the "a" key on flanker 1.3 (an ancient version) on any mode excepting nav one... but now... do you know how?
S77th-konkussion Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 You have to set it up as a "failure" in the mission editor. There is no key to turn it off in Lock ON. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
cool_t Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 In game you should be able to deactivate ACS. The main conponant that I feel would benifit me is close in dog fighting with a heaver pay-load. Also at high alt and high speed not using the ACS will permit you to perform nice moves that you will need to practice on your own. You can definatly fly the edge more with ACS OFF.
GGTharos Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 No, you should not be able to. If your CAS/ACS isn't working, you don't fly, period. Further, it would allow people to do things that just shouldn't be done - such as pulling 14-16g turns. Sure, the real aircraft can do that. You can't fly them after, but since LOMAC has no way to punish you for doing such things, it may as well not let you. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

There is an article describing the US pilot flight experience in the SU-27 twin-sitter, as I recall the link to that story was posted by a member of this forum and it was nice subject to read. The pint to this is that the Russian pilot had to reach over to deactivate acs (some thing of that sort) before pugachov’s cobra manoeuvre. The US pilot was imprested and however retained he’s confidence in the US planes performance. LOMAC has no way to punish you? How much do you know the actual game? I recall my testing for G tolerance was that I spun the plane with max thrust and max trim and after having the black screen for 30-60 sec the controls were non responsive the SU-33 spiraled upwards on it's own. Try that. It could have been a good story about acs but it's not there. I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
GGTharos Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 "Realistic G" punishes you just for flying right. There's such thing as too much punishment ;) You should be getting failures and stuff breaking on your plane if you over-g it so hard, never mind the pilot. But in LO, that's not a problem. You land, it gets fixed, no big deal, right? It's not as if you just turned a 50 million dollar plane into a statue. And while this might be acceptable to do in real life (missile was going to hit you, etc, etc) in LO it'll just be done as 'routine' to get your lead-turn in first. And IIRC, he may have flipped a switch to allow him to override the AoA limiter, but flankers don't fly with disabled ACS AFAIK- you don't even get to take off if it's not functional, that should tell you something. Moreover, nowhere in any sort of literature have I seen any mention of such a thing being of use in combat. For that cobra move: the only point where i see an advantage is to fire an missile with nose to bandit advantage..but even that is not up to date looking to 9x missiles and similar.....The last thing you want to become as a fighter is sitting like a duck in the skies with no options left and being predictable.... ( just my 2 cents ) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I did say there is an artical of the US pilot flying SU-27 correct me if I'm wrong but can you do better than that? I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
GGTharos Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 ... I have the Su-27SK flight manual? Although I honestly can't say it's better than your article; haven't read it in a while :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
A.S Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 hmm ACS override button for lockon....similar to pitch override in F-16.....hmm hmm hmmmmmmmmm hm hmm hmmmm :book::music_whistling: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

A.S Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Your hmmm story does not sound bright and what should hepen in lock on debatable. i never said that im bright :) .... just liked the idea to have that function in lockon to figure the outcome of it ... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RedTiger Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Here's the article monotwix is talking about btw: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3897/is_199908/ai_n8862137 The only thing it mentions being disabled was AoA limiter during a Cobra maneuver, which makes sense. The plane was also a test plane, not a combat one. Also BTW, I am considering developing little device that straps to your arm that squeezes your arm uncomfortably the more Gs you pull. Pull 9 Gs and its bearable, but only for a matter of seconds, a minute at most but you can develop a tolerance to it. If you over-G, it breaks itself and your arm. Do you think I have a market available in this idea? With the type of continuous force needed to break your arm, I highly doubt anyone will be even be capable of over-G before unloading and gasping with pain.

A.S Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 so often there is a post made... with one clear topic.....and sooo often it drifts away...mostly ending in...i know sh...better then you ..cuz i read in net that............ so funny... :megalol: 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Rhino4 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 @ Redtiger: I think I have enough weird nerd-like gadgets associated with this game already, thank you...Although the thought of not having to check the aoa/g-meter when in a dogfight makes it tempting...I already look nerdy enough with my hat and my headset and my microphone and my joystick and my pedals, damnit! Stop tempting me!

BladeLord Posted May 24, 2008 Author Posted May 24, 2008 well, at least i could launch an R73 or 2 by using the Cobra... what a shame, in that point the original flanker was much more real than lock on and Flanker 2.0 :(
