There’re people that say lock on is boring and people that say lock on is the best game ever and of course it does not belong to one opinion, it has one shape though, it’s in the shape of a pyramid structure and it’s the case where a newbie gets shot and the ace would get tired of shooting.

There’re lock on limitations however and yet not fully explored and shall I say ''does it have to be'', I see it as a learning curve and as a staircase between the floors of a building of which not every pilot is fighter pilot that has to belong to a squad, some one might be good at reconnaissance and some would like to fly in with twin sitter tornado and the expansion menu, in short I would encourage peoples progress for this sim and I wish for it to get better either via Lock On or DCS.

I have to say that the current pilots are the potential of some piloting venture and as virtual pilot I’d say carry on.

I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.

again, I wished this to be a discussion on how to make maps and missions, not how to conduct one's self online! (but if this is where you wish to go with it, by all means...)

The "lockon boring?" question was rhetorical. I find Lockon to be one of the best and most worthwhile games I ever played! All I was looking for was a new location for a map.

Any way, I played on the RAF server for the fist time in forever today (I had avoided it for a while due to CTDs) and it was a blast! The flat Crimean can be lots of fun!

DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices

I'm still not sure what your (red tigger) problem is- but I do know that if you lack the desire, social skills, or whatever to join a squad, or even simply work as a team on comms with others, well- then go do what you want. Just quit complaining.

It is what it is. The tools are there. Make the best of it- or go somewhere else. Simple.

Up until now, I've been humored with an idea that I figured would be very unpopular simply because its different that the status quo. For all those who have humored me, thank you. However, I have been watching the clock and keeping time until I inevitably got a response like this.

If there's one thing I can't stand, its people who think that discussing how something could be different is complaining. I'm not "complaining" and I don't have a "problem", thank you very much. I'm giving my relatively meaningless opinion on what I think would vastly improve multiplayer. Will it happen to LOMAC? No. DCS? Most likely no.

You don't like me "complaining" about it? Then don't read it. I'm not twisting your arm, and I'm not violating any forum rules. Welcome to the internet, btw, where people like to talk about crap and everyone's got an opinion. ;)

Oh, and what's this "It is what it is" stuff? Hogwash. If everyone said that, half the things that the community has added to LOMAC wouldn't even exist. That's a really short-sighted way to look at things. How is anyone supposed to have any vision of how things can improve in that mind-set? The only way things get better and improve is people bring them up and talk about them. Hell, if I had a dime for every time I brought up some change to a video game on a discussion forum all the while being jeered by others about it, and then...surprise, surprise, the next iteration of the game does exactly what I thought would work and others said was stupid and worthless, I'd be rich by now. Protip: I've been lurking and reading all sorts of internet boards, including all sorts of PC game boards, for years. I've practically done my own marketing research. I know what works and what doesn't, and I'm so confident of that I'm often tempted to raise the capital and give this developer stuff a shot myself sometimes. :)

So, I'm afraid you'll have to excuse my ever-present drive to figure out how things tick and how they could be better. :D

Ok guys lets not get too personal about this, konkussion is cool, I'm sure he just misunderstood the idea of what you were saying.

No one is complaining we've basically hijacked Aeroscout's thread and we're now just discussing a basic idea of how multiplayer could/should be.

I personally agree with RedTiger fully on this issue and I am no more lazy or lack social skills than squad members are obsessed, it's just that for most gamers/simmers joining a squad doesn't appeal to them for a number of reasons like time constraints, not being able to predict when they'll be able to fly etc but we still want to have that collective feeling while playing. Now most other games/sims give you the opportunity to log-on and start playing as a team but in LO that rarely happens for the reasons I'm sure we're all aware of. However that's not to say squads aren't important and I'm glad that there are those that are motivated to join squads becasue they are the life blood of any online PC game, they pay for the servers, organize the events and make the missions that we all enjoy playing so much when online .. so hail to all squads :worthy: but I do wish the online capabilities for lockon were given a much higher priority.

I always bring up IL2 when ever Lockon and Multiplayer are mentioned in the same sentence because I think Oleg and crew got it exactly right when it comes to making a combat flightsim appeal to the online crowd. I just hope that when Black Shark's multiplayer is fully developed we get the same thing.

Its not the training, or the part to get it all going, rather its the on-going obligation. I would expect that a squadron would have some sort of orientation or training. I'm struggling here, because I'm trying really hard to not seem like a lazy, anti-social prick in a community full of people who are anything but anti-social or lazy. However, perhaps thats exactly what I am. :D I'm not as interested in the socializing part as much as I just want to play against an opponent who is human in a setting that takes a modicum of cooperation to win. And thats pretty much how its always been for me. I never enjoyed being in FPS clans or MMO guilds and such, but I did like pitting myself against another human. I really did enjoy socializing with people and working with them to the point that I knew that I had no obligations to them.

I have yet to see anything like that coming down the pipe in a flight sim. So until then, flight sims will most likely continue to be a solo pursuit for me. I'm just glad developers are seeing the value of having something for the single player in the form of campaigns & mission editors beyond what LOMAC has to offer.

Seems to me that's exactly what he said. Are you not lamenting the squadron members out there who are flying together? I never said you had to join anyone (as if anyone would want you to anyway)

"The tools are there" This means -squadron or not- you CAN get on comms and cooperate with others and then you can leave with no obligations- just like you want.

"It is what it is" Server owners put up the money, the time, & the missions and mandate NOTHING of you in return. Certainly missions can & should be critiqued. This is how you improve. (what's up with the BuK LN's being fully autonomous after the radar is down? )

What exactly do you expect to improve by whining about how server "X" sucks because YOU don't want to commit to a squadron? Don't!

Thus I reiterate: Quit complaining. If there was another point in all of this- I'll miss it when it's contained within lines & lines of whining about things easily remedied.

I'll do that, thanks :)

This has happened to me too, offline, a couple of times but I've never been hit. The missiles just look like they are firing blind and you have to be pretty unlucky if you fly into one. Probably not the same thing you guys are experiencing though.

Variety is the spice of life.

Although, that I’m thankful for the dedicated servers on HL. I admit, they need to spice it up. Same old stuff are getting borring…
