daemonhunter Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 For some reason I can’t turn off the HMD in the F18. I turn the BRT dial to off and several seconds later it flicks on a quarter turn. I am fairly new to the Hornet but I have flown most of the training missions in the last month or so and I haven’t had any issues up until yesterday. This is happening in the standard training mission and other normal missions. I wondering if I have a controller / HOTAS issue
Harker Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 I'd check for unintended control binds, either keys or the axis. I have the HMD knob bound to an axis and I have no problems. daemonhunter Posted November 2, 2020 Author Posted November 2, 2020 Thanks for the advice. I’ll have a look into the bindings. Also thanks for the Reece tip, I didn’t know that one
Ziptie Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Thanks for the advice. I’ll have a look into the bindings. Also thanks for the Reece tip, I didn’t know that one I use RECCE all the time! Turn the HMD dial on after startup, then RECCE switch until I am in the air and ready for it's use. If you could report back here after you've checked your bindings, let us and others know if you've resolved it by what you've discovered - it is nice for us to know, as well as potentially helping others with a similar issue in the future. daemonhunter Posted November 2, 2020 Author Posted November 2, 2020 Just wanted to let you know Harker was correct (thank you!) I had checked keybindings but I hadn’t checked Axis bindings. The BRT know was bound to the INCR/DECR slider on the throttle. Which is actually great because now I can easily use it. And also I know have the REECE button Bound as well, so thanks Ziptie. All in all an excellent result.
