.OGG files causing DCS crash

I'm having CTD every time I attempt to load a mission that has any .OGG sound files in the .MIZ. Doesn't matter if it's a campaign, Public multiplayer mission, or mission I created.

Hi. Here's a simple mission containing an OGG file. Can you try and tell us if it crashes your DCS?

I see you have a bunch of mods. Try disabling them. You can do so in the module manager.

Could it be your antivirus, then? Which one is it? Can you temporarily disable it and try again?

I don't run any 3rd party antivirus software and attempted several times with windows firewall and antivirus off, no luck.

Can you please activate full debug mode and then try again? Your log will be a lot more verbose, and we might have a glimpse of what's happening when mission is opened.

When I went to activate it, it was already enabled in my autoexec.cfg

Oh. It means it won't get more verbose than it is already.

Can you please test this new mission? This time, it contains a .wav file.

Just tested, .wav files work just fine, mission loaded and the sound played. I've even tried converting .ogg files to .wav to make missions work, such as the airboss soundfiles. and they won't play as a .wav but the mission will run. Attached is the dcs.log if you needed it

By "converting .ogg files to .wav", you mean converting them with an audio software like Audacity, or simply changing the files extension?

 

Can you please try this? (I just did, it's perfectly safe)

 

1/ Empty "C:\Users\Ethan\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS.openbeta" folder.

2/ Launch DCS, then launch my "ogg.miz" mission.

3/ Look for an .ogg file in the "C:\Users\Ethan\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS.openbeta" folder and try to open it with an audio software. Does it play?

When I said converting, I just meant changing the extension.

That was it, cleaned out that folder and ran the ogg.miz. Mission loaded and played the sound. After playing the mission, the C:\Users\Ethan\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS.openbeta was still empty. But I'm extremely grateful for all your help, hopefully that solved the problem. Interestingly, it doesn't always have the issue, I'd go weeks with no problems playing mission then suddenly they'd lock up. There were a lot of files in that Temp file so maybe something was causing conflict.
