markturner1960 Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Hi, is there an updated guide to using the JTAC and procedure ? I see some old guides on you tube, has stuff changed or can I use those? Any pointers to the best? Thanks System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
AstonMartinDBS Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 JTAC hasn't been changed for a long time AFAIK. dooom Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 I second this. I have been making some new reference cards for myself and would like to have a card for JTAC comms. I have searched everywhere and cannot seem to find any source that explains the comms tree when working with JTAC and their meaning... What does "10 seconds" do? What about "Sparkle" or "Snake" etc... Does anyone have a reference to the JTAC comms and what they mean? Stand by for laser on in approximately "10 seconds" Indicating that infared marking is a possibility from the JTAC, which is a more covert method of marking the target as it can only be seen with certain optical enhancement (i.e NVGs) or requesting/declaring method of target marking via infared pointer "sparkle" JTAC can oscillate the pointer in a figure 8 around the target to help identify friendly position (origination point being friendly) and/or to locate the desired target, aided sighting by motion of the pointer "snake" Not sure I should post the document I have, as it might violate the rules of the forum - however if you google search: JFIRE 20161 - you will find a document that has what you are looking for, and much more. dooom Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 THANKS! That was super helpful and a great download. I am still hopeful that ED has a DCS sanctioned reference somewhere as I agree that sharing certain documentation can be problematic. Great resource though.
