From the Home Page of DCS:

I click on the gear symbol to get into settings…

I click on the Controls Tab at the top…

The big categorized table of ‘actions’ that can be bound/mapped to the various buttons, rudder movements, keys on keyboards, TrackIR, pops up.

Perfect, just like everyone else…

Unfortunately, my list of available ‘actions’ is very limited in comparison with what others have. I watched the Matt Wagner video on binding the controls, he (and I assume everyone) has thousands of actions that could potentially be bound. Pages and pages of them! Example, when Wags is within the ‘All’ category, the first eleven Action items are AAP functions. When I am in the ‘All’ category I don’t have any AAP action items. He has so many that he can limit his search to just the category ‘AAP’. I am not so sure that I need to necessarily bind a bunch of autopilot commands to my throttle, but I don’t have the option. The biggest problem is that my list does not include anything that begins with ‘HOTAS’ or have that category …

Do I have some toggle button turned off? How do I get the full table of actions?

Which module? White joystick do you have (is it one with pre-defined .lua files)? Make sure that the module selection is as needed. The "UI Layer" or "General" selection has a lot fewer and completely different actions as the "TF-51 Real" for example.

F/A-18C 'Game' is what I am attempting to bind. It is the only aircraft that I have purchased separate from the free versions that come with DCS. The free ones I believe are the SU-33 and the P-51. 'General' is another option, and frankly is the exact same table as that of the F/A-18C 'Game' that I am initially attempting to bind.

Joystick is Thrustmaster Warthog, Throttle is Winwing Taurus, Slaw Device rudder. TrackIR centering bound fine to one of the buttons on the Stick.

I appreciate your help, dont really understand which have pre-defined .lua files or what that even is. Some kind of driver that I should be downloading?

"F/A-18C Game" is only used if you've enabled "Game Avionics Mode" which is a simplified experience with less depth = less controls that need to be bound. If you don't use this "Gameplay" option, or the mission you're using does not allow it, your controls will not work.

To get full bindings, and full systems depth, your controls must be bound using the category "F/A-18C Sim," and the setting "Game Avionics Mode" must be off. They are linked together.

Thank you,

I will try that when I get home. I currently do have the "Game Avionics Mode" turned on as to allow for the "Gameplay" options and missions - it was my understanding that was the detail and that 'sim' was the Artificial Intelligence level stuff.

Found it, and the 'Sim' mode does list thousands, thank you! I think that I've got the stick and rudders for the most part set.

Unfortunately, I am struggling still to binding most of the switches on the Winwing Taurus Throttle. Comm 1 and Comm 2 on the throttle bound, no problem. Airbreak out and retract, no problem. TDC select - depressed the hat and it bound as TDC Depress; however TDC right, left, up, down by sliding the hat around ... no dice. None of the extra switches on the throttle can I get to bind such as Engine Crank L and R, Fuel Probe Ext and Retr, Fuel Dump, etc. Biggest thing is that I am not able to get the thrust to bind and that is the #1 thing you need to have on a throttle or else, well it isn't really a throttle!

Anyone have experience with Winwing throttle?

Is this control on your device a slider? If so you can bind the TDC as an axis under the axis assignments

This. The axis settings are in a sub-menu, chose the "ALL" dropdown beside where you changed to "F/A-18C Sim" and select "AXIS COMMANDS". The commands under that don't show up in the "ALL" category. Use them to assign things like pitch/roll/TDC slew etc.
