It would be nice if all long range radars (including ground base air traffic radar) could be manned in a "combined arms" fashion, where the player would be presented with a simple radar screen. No complex simulation required, just a semi-realsitically simualted and rendered radar-screen to help your coalition as a controller without using the f-10 map.

It would be more immersive and more realistic.

I think it's a feature that would also be used by less "hardcore" type of players, since it would be a nice thing to do, if you got shot down mid-mission and want to help your mates a little bit, without completing nerding out on ATC stuff.

Exactly that, now, on typical servers, GCI posess omnipotent knowledge about every enemy and friendy asset detected by any radar.

Knowing exact altitude to the single feet, knowing the exact type of the enemy plane, its course to the single degree, its speed to the single knot - all of that changing in the real time. Even every single parameter of the enemy after the merge. Seing even enemy missiles and their exact parametes!

I think ED may overlook GCI/AWACS element at this moment because they spoke about reasonably realistic implementation of WWII radars with its limitations and limited situational awareness.

In some old sim F-22 TAW it was implemented superb, with AWACS having realistic limitations, not knowing exact type of the enemy, just coarse speed, altitude, basic IFF responder - not type, chaos at the merge etc.

Playing as AWACS was fascinating, steering your own fighter patrols to identify the bandits, trying to estimate the enemy type by its parameters, caring about AWACS own savety, judging where is terrain masking and so on. In sim as realistic as DCS it would shine even more, especially with dynamic campaign ED is working on.
