Hello,

I recently began tanking off the KC-135MPRS after learning and perfecting my abilities on the S-3B. I've been practicing my tanking in single player getting on and off the hose and just recently I am beginning to explore multi player. I noticed when I am in a multiplayer server the drouge remains retracted until I call ready pre-contact at which time the hose is extended. In a single player mission the hoses are pre deployed prior to even arriving at the tanker. I've also noticed that the hoses being retracted significantly reduces the distance from which you can call ready pre-contact and have the hoses extend out for connection. Has anyone figured out why there is a difference in behavior and is there a way to correct it so the behavior is consistent between MP and SP? I don't mind which behavior is correct I just wish it was the same for both. In MP last night I made an ass of myself calling ready pre contact about a dozen times as I was used to being able to call it from much further out due to the hoses being pre deployed in SP. Another issue is after completing refueling in SP the hose disconnects and then clips through the airplane. The MP server the hose disconnects and retracts back into the pod. I searched around and noticed a few others have noticed this behavior but not much else has been said about it.

Yeah, it's confusing. Especially when the deployed baskets make you forget you have to call ready pre-contact :P If you try and tank like that your probe will go through the basket.

So I was playing around with this a bit during the afternoon yesterday. My previous observations were inaccurate. In SP on the S-3B the initial callout "intent to refuel" does not deploy the drouge. It only deploys once "ready pre-contact" is called out. At which point refueling can begin. Upon completion "transfer complete, disconnect" is called and the hose retracts into the pod. This seems like correct behavior to me. In SP on the KC-135MPRS the initial callout "intent to refuel" deploys the drouge. Refueling proceeds as per usual and at "transfer complete" The hose disconnects and does not retract into the pod. During my MP session KC-135 deployed at "ready pre-contact" same as the S-3B behaves in SP and hose retracts at "transfer complete" I have yet to be sent for trick or treat in MP yet so more testing is in order.

For what it's worth the S-3B is also deploying the basket as it enters a left hand turn in the race track orbit when no radio callout is transmitted at all. Will continue to experiment with this and grab some tracks this weekend. The behavior is quite erratic to say the least.
