Sonic Boom of Larger Calibre Gun Rounds

Something I've been meaning to post for a while that struck me as being a little off. It's not so much a bug, just something that doesn't seem correct.

 

At the moment, in DCS rounds fired from larger calibre guns have loud sonic booms, while this isn't a problem in and of itself, this sonic boom is significantly louder than both the muzzle flash and round impact/detonation, which doesn't seem right, at least going by videos.

 

This is fairly easy to reproduce; any tank or ship (which has some form of naval artillery) or any of the larger Flak 88 guns or QF 3.7" gun, and have them fire at something. When they fire, if you're forward or to the side of the guns you'll probably only hear the sonic boom of the rounds and only just about hear the muzzle flash. Explosions from round detonation also seem to be quieter than the sonic boom of rounds flying past.

 

If you're behind the guns, then you'll be inside the shock-cone of the rounds, and you won't hear the boom, allowing you to hear the muzzle flashes more clearly.

 

It's not a major problem by any means, just something I found, in my opinion, to be a little odd.
