I admin that I didn't read the PDF briefing, but having checked it, the text is the same as the in-game. Suggestion: perhaps put it in the kneeboard as well; as a VR user I'm all for having as much as possible in the kneeboard. The red/ green alert thing seems fine to me, but the point is that the player shouldn't have to come to a forum to find this out. I was running low on fuel in the mission on the way back to the carrier, I must've been around 60 nm from the target, and activated the TACAN but couldn't lock on to the tanker, so I assume it was just too far away (but where?). I didn't expect to locate it from the briefing, but to know its general wherabouts would've been helpful. This is information which I assume is normally provided and imho should be in the briefing (is it the blue arrow on the chart?) I am not posting to be negative or difficult, but to suggest changes that would've improved my experience in the mission and so might help others in the future. Whether you decide to make changes or not is of course your decision. I have no idea how many people are still buying your campaign, and I understand and have every sympathy that you can't be expected to support and improve it forever. Whilst I'm here. I was unable to hit the targets in this mission but still attempted to make my way back to the carrier and was then greeted by a MISSION FAILED message and the mission ending. I much prefer allowing the player to continue and providing any such information after landing. IMHO returning safely to the carrier is the most important objective. Obviously not suggesting that you change that, just that you maybe consider it for your future campaigns, which I hope there will be. Hi Will update the briefs as you suggest as I always like to improve things when I can and yes a lot of people are still flying this campaign. I do keep all my campaigns continuously up to date as soon as things are raised and will from time to time go through older ones and improve them. Recently updated the free Serpent’s Head Campaign to be fully voiced by voice actors rather than emulated voices. Not sure what has happened with Tacan as you will definitely pick it up if heading back to the Way Point as directed. Make sure you do not have AA selected as this requirement was stopped quite a while ago by DCS. I will check it when I get back to my rig but to date nobody has reported this issue. Not sure why you could not hit the targets are you setting up the JSOW and coordinates for the final target correctly. As above nobody else has reported this issue. I will check this as well. I have a video on how to select the correct coordinates format if that is any help. Note what you say about when to call a mission fail. There are a few camps on this one. Most pilots want to know quite early rather than fly all the way back and maybe, in some missions, carry out a difficult landing in bad weather only to find out they failed the mission quite early on. As a campaign creator you just have to make a call on this one. Yes I have more recent campaigns. The next is ‘Rise of the Persian Lion’ ( A 15 mission campaign starting in the Black Sea and continuing in the Persian Gulf) and ‘Rise of the Persian Gulf 2’ (A 13 Mission campaign in the Persian Gulf). These campaigns continue the story line of this campaign adding additional characters, wingmen and strategic flights plus adding more complexity and difficulty as they progress. If it helps this is a link to a fly through of the mission by Flying Kenny done two years ago. I will update this with my feed back when I have had a chance to check fly this mission. Ramstein Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 JSOWS are really Great if you use them correctly, and they are one of the easier weapons to use. Also take advantage of the Dumb Jsows (TALDS) to draw fire from the enemy weapons. But not all Sams will open fire unless provoked, and some Sams will take the JSOWS and JDAMS out before they hit the target. Best to practice on practice servers and read up on them. I didn't hit the targets on that occasion because I got too close, woke up the SA-10, and my JSOWs were shot down. Edit: no problem with the tanker. I was trying to find it after I had failed to hit the targets and didn't realise its appearance was trigger based. After hitting the targets found the tanker no problem. Mission now completed. Onwards and upwards. Thanks. deftone86 Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 Only problem I have run into is 2 of the JSOWs on my last attempt missed. I released them from angles 32. They both hit a bit short oddly it was the first and third that missed. The second one hit perfect. My first attempt I got all 3 but screwed up the 4th. A SAM got it. So I don’t know what I dis wrong the second time. I shouldn’t say second I stink at dogfitting and don’t get passed that every time.
majorandme Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 This thread was a great help. It is a bit artificial, because as soon as the first hangar was hit the surprise is gone and the next JSOWs would get taken out, certainly the 4th one. But it ws still fun. I'll note I have cheated on a few missions - loading the ATFLIR pod, even though Ford is complaining about not having one, doesn't seem to screw up missions, though I have only gone through msn 1-6 so far.
