Hawkeye91 Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 I’m trying to change my waypoint to fly to a different point other than my initial starting point but I can’t select anything other than WP1. I’m using a custom drawn flight plan that I make on the ABRIS, but it seems like non of the waypoints I create are selectable on the PVI-800. Do only waypoints set in the mission editor work?
Holton181 Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 For what I know there is no real connection between the Abris and the PVI-800. Your flight plan on the Abris will only be visual (on its screen) guidance. To get indications on the HUD, automatic switching of WPs and AP to follow the route, you have to program the PVI-800 directly. Look in the manual for that. 1 Helicopters and Viggen DCS 1.5.7 and OpenBeta Win7 Pro 64bit i7-3820 3.60GHz P9X79 Pro 32GB GTX 670 2GB VG278H + a Dell PFT Lynx TrackIR 5

I was afraid of that... kinda crazy they wouldn’t make them communicate with each other in the real aircraft.
Holton181 Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 They are to some minor extent. When storing, sending and receiving targets with what-it's-called system, controlled by the unit to the left, just below the overhead panel, selected target location is marked on the Abris. But that's about it. The Abris was, if I remember correctly, an afterthought during the development and never got fully integrated. Maybe the black shark 3 will have full integration being a newer model. Speaking of, when are we sopped to get that?
Volk. Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 I believe the ABRIS and PVI-800 were developed and integrated at different times, possibly also from responses of the generals saying they wanted more automation to offload the single-pilot thing then maybe one system leapfrogged the other. But the PVI-800 is based off the Shark's inertial navigation unit, while the ABRIS is more like a GPS as it gets info more from the satellites (although it does combine it with some sensors from the Shark). If you wanted to capture coordinates from the ABRIS, either from a flightplan or because you maybe used the INFO>Search function to look up a nearby airport or town, then just remember to first go from the Menu page > Option > Setup > Units and switch the first two coordinates from the default to decimal which the PVI-800 uses. ps. if you store Target Points (Nav Tgt) on the PVI-800, you'll see those on the ABRIS as selectable 'x' icons. So there's a small overlap between the systems. Having a PVI-800 target point selected also overrides the ability to select a different datalink target.
