Supercarrier LSO communication blackout

Doing a case I, case II, or case II recovery in the Hornet, and after the "update state, switch tower" from Mothers marshal, I get not communication from LSO or anyone. I at least expect to hear auto radio "Charlie" signal but I hear nothing. While "in the grove" on centerline I see IFOLS box on screen but no meatball.

As long as you don't have the "Your signal is Charlie" call, you're supposed to hold above the carrier I think. Then when on final, you need to call the ball.

Once in the CASE I marshal stack you will automatically report to tower, and then wait in the pattern for the charlie call, which could take some time. In CASE II/III you have to go into the comms menu and report Established one in the marshal stack.
