Red Arrow shown on screen - what does it mean?

Hi all,

 

I've been trying out combined arms which is pretty cool but every now and then I see a red arrow appear on the screen (bottom middle on this screenshot) and I cannot figure out what it's for - it is not mentioned in the manual so can anyone please tell me what it means?!

You cannot shoot, something is the way of the gun, no more depression

Yeah what it means is that your crosshair is outside of the traverse/elevation limits of your weapon or has an invalid solution (-ish)
