Hello,

My first post.

I bought Mi-8 3 days ago..

And i was actually pretty disapointed that i dont have stick to fly it.. I called my friend and he said he can send me his old joystick..

I started setting up his joystick for my DCS, and i find oout that his stick doesnt have control for rudder peddals..

It has mounted throttle on it, and i put this mounted throttle as rudder control..

And there comes the problem, i dont know how to control collective right now, i dont have more available axis to control it..

Any helps ?

SORRY FOR BAD ENGLISH !

Hi segax. Joysticks equiped with a throttle control are usually also equiped with a twist axis rudder control.

Can you please state the name of your joystick, or at least attach a picture of it?

Here are some rudder-equiped joysticks:

Thrustmaster T-Flight Stick X

Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS

Microsoft SideWinder FFB2

Saitek Cyborg Evo Stick

Logitech G Extreme 3D Pro

Hmm, i think its some Thrustmaster cheap joystick and really old, i found its called Thrustmaster USB Joystick.. If there is no way to add 4 axis, can i use my mouse as rudder control, or collective and rudder control both ?

It has only 3 axis, indeed. I think it's a good idea to use the throttle axis as the Rudder control. But then, as you said, you need another axis for Throttle control.

By default, DCS modules prevent you from assigning your mouse axis for quite a lot of things, including Rudder and Throttle. It's a kind of protection to avoid a mess in the controls.

I know a simple solution to remove this protection which works with most modules:

  1. Go to \DCS World\Mods\aircraft\name-of-the-aircraft\Input\
  2. Rename your "mouse" folder so the game can't find it ("mickey-mouse", for instance).
  3. Launch DCS and go to the Controls options : tada! You can bind your mouse axis to anything you want.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work for the Mi-8 since it doesn't have a "mouse" folder. It seems the mouse protection is hard-coded...

Does anyone have a solution?

Yeah, exactly that one... when was reading this i got one idea.. But i need to get answer on this question: Can i use this joystick "Thrustmaster USB joystick" and one more joypad that has mushrooms with axiss, and use that joystick as rudder control and collective.. I know how to make it but i need to know "Can i use joystick and joypad at the same time"?

I'm not sure what command you want to bind to your analog stick (what you call "mushroom" 😉).

When you've selected an axis control, click on "Axis Tune" (below) and tick the "Slider" box, then click "OK". Is it what you're looking for?
