skypickle Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 A while ago, I transferred my DCS from the steam version to the Eagle Dynamics version. Recently tho I got a VR headset and I thought it would be easier to just use steamVR. Unfortunately, when I start DCS, it says 'update required' in steam and it starts to update but immediately pauses. Is this by design? 4930K @ 4.5, 32g ram, TitanPascal
Mars Exulte Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 You cannot use the same installation for both, if that's what you mean. It's either standalone or Steam, unless you install one of each. That said, SteamVR has nothing to do with running a game with Steam, it's an independent program. I have used SteamVR with standalone before. skypickle Posted January 16, 2021 Author Posted January 16, 2021 No I have two separate installations. Dcs open beta from eagle dynamics is on one drive and another dcs resides in the steam folder on another drive. 4930K @ 4.5, 32g ram, TitanPascal
paulw10 Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 As a general rule, I’ve found it better to do all DCS purchases on Steam. You can transfer Steam modules to ED, but not the other way around. The Steam version handles auto updating and stuff, so for me it seems a better solution. And I always have the option to transfer to ED if I find it necessary.
