i_am_lugnuts Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 (edited) I was editing a mission on the Syria Map and save my work fairly often. Just in case. Every 10 or 15 minutes. As my mission grew larger and more complicated the issue started. I had no problem editing. Upon saving, or attempting to save my work, the ME crashes with a Constant Table Overflow message and DCS locks up. I had to quit through the task manager. Upon a reboot DCS starts and the ME starts up. But it will not allow me to open ANY missions. If I create one and then save it I can then load other missions. But the mission in question just crashes the ME again immediately. I'll attach the log and the mission. I edit a LOT of missions and have never had an issue until Syria. Possibly the map? EDIT: I spent a large amount of time today editing on other maps. No issues and everything was quite snappy and ran well. I think it must have something to with the map. Flappie Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Hi. I get the same error as soon as I try to load your mission in the ME, then I have to close the game through the task manager. However, when I restart the game, I can launch any other mission in the ME without any problem. I see you have a few mods installed. Try removing them and see if the ME works any better. Another possible solution is to rename your "Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\MissionEditor" into "MissionEditor_old". The game will recreate this folder upon launch. ---
i_am_lugnuts Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 Great. I'll try that. I thought I had removed all the mods. Are you referring to aircraft mods or all mods? Might still have the A-4. Had some others but don't remember what or where they are. Will give it a look as well as creating the new MissionEditor file. Thanks...

i_am_lugnuts Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 (edited) Ok thanks... The VPC mod has been deleted. Do I need to physically delete the others if they're disabled? I have created the new MissionEditor folder and have begun editing. No problem doing that yet but I was hours into it last time before it happened. But I think it's still not right. I was able to save a new scenario I was working on in Syria. I've only added a few groups and routes so far. While the ME did save my work it did not save it as a .MIZ file. There's no extension at all. They're just described as File and 0File. Photo attached. Those files will load in the ME. I had to change the extension so that they were visible. Edit: It seems I've been able to get the ME to save the files as proper .MIZ files now. After the mod removal and creating the new folder and a reboot of DCS they are saving correctly. I think. The effected files were a loss. Couldn't even save over them. Will let you know how the editing goes after I get deeper into it. Thx for the help. Edited January 22, 2021 by i_am_lugnuts
i_am_lugnuts Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 ummmm... nope. Just crashed again. Same details. dcs.log
Flappie Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Below is a list of all the errors you're getting with your mission. I don't know what the "non-existing" object is, but it is probably one of the causes of your issue. Another unusual thing is the "Map already has user object having id[####]!" errors. Object IDs shouldn't be conflitcting. I have no idea how you came to this. Do you use an external mission generator? i_am_lugnuts Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 (edited) I was cutting and pasting units in the ME. Could it have something to do with that? It's referring to maps and objects. Don't know much about that. And no, nothing external. Edited January 22, 2021 by i_am_lugnuts
Flappie Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 (edited) Cutting and pasting shoudln't lead to this. I'll unzip your previous miz file and try to see what's wrong in it (needle in a haystack but hey, you never know). EDIT: Even in Windows, there's something wrong with your mission in the OP. When I unzip it using 7zip, it says "header errors". Maybe your game is unable to create proper archives (a .miz file is just a renamed .zip file). Maybe you should try a cleanup and repair. Edited January 22, 2021 by Flappie ---
i_am_lugnuts Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 Maybe I should just try using the ME on the stable version?
Flappie Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 It won't be able to load your broken missions but you can try create missions from scratch with your stable version, yes. OB and stable are currently identical (OB should get an update on the 27th). ---
i_am_lugnuts Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 (edited) I'm trying the lengthy repair and cleanup this time... And if I don't get it working I'll try a new mission on stable. I tried it before but I was attempting to load a broken file and didn't realize it. I'll start from scratch again. Hopefully whatever error I have in OB isn't in stable as well. I also have both versions of DCS loaded on the computer I use as my server. Could try that too. Not the best machine for editing tho. Edit.. Didn't work. Starting from scratch on stable. I think the "map already has user object" issue must be referring to units I'm placing on the map. I used a lot of copy and paste and I just wonder if it's also copying the unit number instead of having a new one assigned. Edited January 22, 2021 by i_am_lugnuts
i_am_lugnuts Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 Well, I'm out of ideas. Same failures in stable. I didn't copy and paste at all. Syria just doesn't like my computer. I've been doing a lot of editing on PG and NV with no issues. I guess I just can't use Syria.
Flappie Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 If this only happens with Syria map, you should try uninstalling/reinstalling it. ---
i_am_lugnuts Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 I will. Just not today. Had enough frustration for one day. lol Time to fly.
i_am_lugnuts Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 (edited) Well, it just happened on a very large mission in the PG. Is it likely someone from ED will pop in here and lend a hand or should I submit a ticket for help? May have to wipe it out and uninstall and download it again. There's something in there that shouldn't be. Edited January 22, 2021 by i_am_lugnuts
i_am_lugnuts Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 Yep, I will if the reinstall doesn't work. Thx for your attention and help.
ops Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I checked one of the missions where someone had this error. It's no LUA or script issue, as no scripts are run when simply loading the mission. It turned out, there were thousands of coordinates in the waypoint "span" sections of ground units, for every ground unit. I guess this literally blew the limit of something in DCS. The waypoints weren't set by the user (some were stationary SAMs), there were also some paintings in the mission, almost as if a bug mixed up both. (salvaging mission is possible by manually editing out those huge "span" sections in the mission file).
