Windows update query

Hi, I was wondering if like when DCS updates, When windows updates, do Any tweaks such as turning off game mode, and any of the registry tweaks for VR etc get reset?

it depends ...

 

In Windows if any of the changes by WU reset the registry (it can do but its *very rare*, normally that only happens in a windows repair)  then the user preference would get over written, or if microsoft believes that the user preference selected places the user at risk, then microsoft might roll it back

Usually it mainly happens when there is a refresh, like a Creators Update.

They usually happen a couple times a year, and basically does an in place refresh of the OS.

After one of those I always go back in and check all my settings, like making sure USB Ports have power management disabled.

OK, thanks, talking about the update that came out in the last few days... ( you know, it prompts when you shut  down, do you want to update..) I imagine these are things like security patches etc, not a major rrelease candidate update...

yep that tends to be what gets reset for me too; the observation is that Microsoft doesnt normally reset stuff that their is lets call it "tier 1 UI" for, so if a normal user could reasonably switch it off, they dont normally switch it back on again for shits and giggles, USB is a great example of where they will force reenable, possibly just to keep their energy saving credentials in place and whilst there is UI for it there is no expectation that a "normal user" would use that interface
