Hi,

Is there a written beginners' guide to creating missions in the full missions editor ... it feels a faff right now trying to create a SAM unit ... is there a way to create one complete functional SA-10 unit, for example, with one click in the menu and drop onto the map? From what I've learned you seem to have to add three or four units with corresponding elections from the menu? If there was any way of making it easier - and quicker - it would be brilliant.

I don’t know of a written guide but I found Suntsag Ancient Gamer’s YouTube series called “Mission Builders Sanctuary” an excellent introduction to mission building when I started with DCS last year.

P.S In answer to your question about SAM sites - use the add template function in the mission editor. I think there is a built in template for a Russian SA-10 SAM site but you can create your own templates anyway. Suntsag has a video on how to do this.

There is an included template for an SA-10 system built into the vanilla game.

For other sites and units, you can find several user-created templates floating around that you can add to your own editor. You'll see an option to create a new template from an existing group within the menu. Also means that once you've created your own configurations, you can also save those for easy deployment in future missions.
