Nealius Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 I understand the Spit to have a secondary or aux tank just like the P-47 and P-51, and also like the Jug and Stang if this tank is filled it causes some stability issues. At what percent fuel load in the Mission Editor/Planner/Rearm Menu does the secondary tank start getting filled?
Art-J Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 (edited) Aux tanks were a rare feature installed only in some late IXs, XIVs, XVIs and XVIIIs. "Our" IX, being somewhat loosely based on MH434 doesn't have these If I recall correctly. Nealius Posted January 31, 2021 Author Posted January 31, 2021 I must be confusing the aux tank for one of the two tanks foreward of the cockpit. With 100% fuel the Spit is unstable, right?
Art-J Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 I haven't noticed much of a stability difference really with low fuel vs full fuel and I wouldn't expect any - one tank is located on top of the other, roughly where the CG is, so fuel amount doesn't change longitudinal position of it in any meaningful way. That's quite different from P-51 and P-47 with their aux tanks located behind CG of empty aircraft. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
