Cool Breeze Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 So I've recently returned to the Harrier after a hiatus and naturally started going through the training missions. On Mission 14: Guns and Rockets I ran into a "feature" of the GAU-12 on the Harrier that I haven't noticed before now. I'm not a naturally quick shot when strafing ground targets, so I do what I usually do and that is throttle back as I begin my dive in to give myself a bit more time. As the gun pipper is finally winding down I depress the trigger and nothing happens! Did I not set something up correctly, was my Master Arm not on, etc.... After several passes of the same I hold the trigger down after pulling off target and jam the throttle forward! As the Pegasus winds up the RPM the Equalizer starts Brrrrrrring away, WTF! So I started playing around modulating the power settings with the trigger depressed and came the realization. DUH! The Equalizer on the Harrier is Pneumatically powered! If the Pegasus engine isn't producing enough excess air pressure the Equalizer can't operate! Sorry for the long narration of my problem, but it highlights my frustration. Can we get some BOLD text in the Training Mission and the Manual the spells this limitation out for the GAU-12 on the Harrier. If this is a 'feature' and not a bug, I really appreciate the dedication to detail. If I'm the only goof that is having this problem I'll take the hit, but has anyone else been frustrated by this and wonders what the hell was going on? 1 "For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." Cunctator Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 The gun can only fire of engine RPM is above 70 %. That's correct, not a bug but a feature, and was changed in one of the last few updates, long after the training missions were done. I hope manual and training will be updated eventually.
Dragon1-1 Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 I talked to BD about that already, they will, but he's waiting for the sensor updates to finish. The guns and rockets mission won't require it, just some voicing work, so it might come earlier.

Is this about Razbam part for DMT, INS, NAVFLIR and TPOD - or is this the ED side of the new FLIR update? i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
Dragon1-1 Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 Razbam, mostly. However, ED will likely be done with the new FLIR before they are.
baltic_dragon Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Hey guys, I'll be updating the training missions - but I want to be sure that things are final in the module, not to have to return to them for the third time. Same goes for the manual, which moves forward every day. But as almost everything DCS, it requires patience - but I promise to deliver good product. 1 5 For more information, please visit my website. Dr Zaius Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Its a shame the APU can’t be spun up to actuate the gun, not sure I’ll ever get used to diving towards the ground with power. 2 System Specs: Intel Core i9-9900K 3.6GHz @ 4.8GHz, Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master, 32 GB G.Skill Trident Z DDR4-3600 RAM, GeForce GTX 4090, Crucial SSD (2TB), TrackIR 5, TM Throttle, VPC WarBRD Stick, TM T-Flight Rudder Pedals, Samsung 49” Odyssey G9
