Flames? The only flames seen here are coming out of your joystick! :P

It all depends on how you use it and how big it is.

Once again, did not mean to "dis" the jet.

Dis away! Seriously, I don't think you'll hurt anyone's feelings. You didn't start trying to blame ED for making a broken plane, or anything silly like that, so I don't think you lost any points with anyone around here. ;)

Truthfully, I don't like fighting with (and by that I mean "against") the thing, so I don't really fly it too often. Here's something to chew on; I actually found the He-111 in IL2 to be more responsive and easier to land and fly than the Su-25T. I suppose that's apples and oranges though. Just because the Heinkel is bigger, older, and have props doesn't mean it has to be a pig to fly. Still, WWII medium bomber vs. small attack plain...:joystick:

Arrgh. its not that hard to fly! just set up the controls and give it a bit of practice. sure its diff because its not flown with an atari stick or something :P

I agree, it isn't hard to "fly", as in move it through the air! Keeping it moving in a healthy direction while fighting in it, however.....:D

That is where alt-1 and alt-9 come in handy...alt-1 is direction autopilot (flying same path when you activated it) and alt-9 turns it off. All it does is keep it steady long enough for you to line up your cross hairs on target and pull trigger. I can do dirty work in the 25T, I just cant do it as professionally as most other guys here can...like kill 3 targets in 1 run with vihkrs. Ive hit my head too many times to even think fast anymore.

This apparently isn't even possible in reality, if the Ka-50 in Black Shark can be considered "reality". :D The way the laser works doesn't allow this. So don't feel too bad about your one-shot passes. :)

Don't worry. You'll be a professional airborne mafia hitman when DCS: Hog rolls around the corner :D

When that happens...in about...3-4 years from now, yeah Ill be that big brown log in the toilet raining on parades. The biggest shiatstorm of the century.

I did 3 yesterday before the Cougar snafu! 3 shots aren't hard! You just have to have a VERY fast finger on your cursor-mover and time your shots.

Actually, I think that having this crazy thing with my controls made me a BETTER pilot! I'm ready for ANYTHING to happen now. Although my blood pressure is off the scale!

Hey... anyone know if there is an indicator that the IR jammer is... well.... ON???

My joystick is big enough, but at least it doesnt have flames shooting out the end of it...

Actually... if your joystick is burning you might want to tell the girl you slept with last night. :megalol:

I would like to say thanks to all the contributors of this thread. I have gained a lot of tips and tricks on how to fly the T Frog ‘properly’ in the last ten minutes, cheers.

And to add to this - your best roll rate will be at 0 AoA/0g. So if you want to roll fast, unload the jet! Also, roll rate and turn rate depend on your airspeed. Keep it up, or suck it up.

Wanna change your heading fast? Bring AoA to zero. I agree with that.

Flaps in a turn are a no-no. They're drag devices, and they shouldn't be modifying your turn rate a whole lot like they do in the SFM planes. Further, having the flaps out can decrease the structural strength of the wing, but I don't know if this is modeled.

But I am not agree with that. Flaps in "battle" position is your friend, especially at low speeds. Flaps drag is no match for any Su-25T payload. And if you already get in situation, where speed is essential - leave your weapons here and go away.

It might be that the Su-25T is designed with this in mind; I would think flaps would just murder your energy fighting ability and blow your speed away in a turn without giving you much in terms of turn rate, but maybe I'm wrong here. I'm also unaware of g-limitations for the Su-25 with the flaps down, typically an aircraft with flaps down has a very low g-limit to avoid damaging them (2-2.5g) as well as potentially damaging or destroying the wing.

As people says in Lithuania: If you are crappy dancer you are likely to step on your own balls... :D Su-25T is great plane, love it very much, It takes a time to master autopilot on the "Grach" thou it's awesome...

Just take fully loaded T-Frog and try hard turns at Max allowed AoA with and without flaps. The energy loss isnt so disaster, as you saying, but the turn rate improves significantly especially at low speeds.

In game flaps in "battle" position can be damadged only by overspeed dive, not by overG. In fact with a clear wing you can even override 9G if you are very gently with the stick, flaps will be ok.

This sounds wrong, but it doesn't mean it is; sadly I don't have a Su-25 manual to check if any flaps-down limits have been omitted :D

All the real aircraft I am familiar with have speed -and- maneuver limits for flaps down, with the potential exception of some WWII fighters.

:doh:I was speaking about a game.

Of course real 25T has such limits. In fact all presented in LO aircrafts has a lot, no A LOT limits, which are not presented in model. Currently we have very ideal all-forgiving aircrafts, which also has much more effective sensors comparing to the real one. Hope this will be changed in DSC, I think a lot of people will be shocked if so.:devil_2:
