AirWolves=CutCut Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 In a single player mission, Is there a way to make the player a wingman? Or would you just do this as two separate groups and instruct the player to follow the lead of an AI group?
Johnny Dioxin Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 I don't know how it is currently but if we wanted to do this back in Flaming Cliffs 1 days we would start a mission in a flight as leader then switch to another aircraft in the flight. I think you can still do that in FC3, but don't know if you can do it in DCS aircraft. 1 Rig: Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS; Ryzen 7800X3D ; 64GB DDR5 5600; RTX 4080; VPC T50 CM2 HOTAS; Pimax Crystal Light I'm learning to fly - but I ain't got wings With my head in VR - it's the next best thing!

Yes, that also works for other modules, but I'm pretty sure once you hop out of the lead, AI will take over and straightly goes RTB. It will stop following any flightplan. You could also just place/create a separate player/client aircraft, just follow the AI aircraft and pretend it's your lead. Either way, AI flight behaviour is erratic and unrealistic, so the experience is probably not what you'd expect/hope. Maybe for multiplayer?? What I did do was create a separate flight for the player with the same waypoints and instruct the player he/she is a wingman. Thanks for the idea though!!
dark_wood Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 You set both planes, AI and Client in the same group?

I think "Client" is only for a multi-player mission. I am going a single player. However I guess it really doesn't matter. I could set it as multi but then just have 1 "client." I'll give that a shot. Edited February 12, 2021 by AirWolves=CutCut Bad Spells

dark_wood Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 You can use "Client" for single player - the only difference is that at mission start you will have an extra step, to choose the slot
