joakarl2 Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 (edited) Hello, I’m a new user and have Reverb G2. I have rtx 3080 and a i7 8086K. What a great experience to use VR with DCS but I have below 45 fps quite often with settings fairly low. Would I benefit from a new cpu i9 10850K? When I look at comparison about those 2 cpu the difference seems very little. Is this possible? 8086k is 2 years older. draconus Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 Both CPUs are top shelf but in DCS single core performance is what matters - is it worth to get 7% more? Don't you overclock yours already? I'd look into your setting both in DCS and VR software. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
BlackSharkAce Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 I would suggest looking into optimizing for VR, notably shader mods and world object shadow removal. I’m running a 8700k @ 4.7GHz with a 1080ti and am GPU bound 98% of the time.
Munkwolf Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 if you are looking to upgrade and are going to stick with intel, i'd definitely recommend waiting a few months for rocket lake to get released
joakarl2 Posted February 11, 2021 Author Posted February 11, 2021 ok thank you for your answers. Nice that I can use my "old" cpu. 18 hours ago, BlackSharkAce said: I would suggest looking into optimizing for VR, notably shader mods and world object shadow removal. Is that what you mean with shader and world object shadow removal? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyrAIhXFpv0
BlackSharkAce Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Yeah the shader mod he talks about in the video. The shadow removal is here: Enjoy !
