KenobiOrder Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 There seems to be something going on with the single target track behavior. regardless of the procedure used (ie: using RWS or TWS etc) and then going to STT, there is a very high failure rate. Oddly enough though, this seems to only happen in multiplayer. In singleplayer, I have no issues locking on to targets in STT without fail 99% of the time, regardless of the behavior of the target. In multiplayer, STT locks seems to almost never be successful, leading me to suspect this is some kind of multiplayer issue.
Skysurfer Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 How are you trying to lock? Using Jester? ACM mode? Are you telling him to lock the closest enemy or closest general target?
KenobiOrder Posted February 11, 2021 Author Posted February 11, 2021 As RIO, using STT buttons. The problem only occurs online.
Skysurfer Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 Interesting. Do you have your radar elevation bound to an axis? Are you using the DDD or TID? What is your target doing? (Tacview would be preferable as a showcase).
nighthawk2174 Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 I've noticed this as well; from the TID in TWS have a target hooked, and press and hold PDSTT. And it just sits there for a bit and doesn't find the target.
Naquaii Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 (edited) This is likely due to multiplayer lagg and hard to fix. That said, using TWS -> STT buttons for an STT track wasn't used as much IRL as it was regarded as less accurate and less likely to work than doing it via the radar cursor on the DDD. My advice to prospective RIOs out there is to learn to use the radar cursor on the DDD and practice with it, this is how it was nearly always done irl according to SMEs.
