To Roll or Rudder... for Air to Air Refueling

I trim out so, but always making small gentle corrections. Trim out for flying off left wing and then glide in. Once behind I retrim then go for basket. I still get into wobbles - it's hard.

In case you hadn't realized, to use the AP "dampening" effect all you need to do is select the A/P button then the ON/OFF button (rather than selecting a mode).  That will get you you the same spot as disengaging the AP without cancelling it with the paddle.

Ah good to know thanks much! I am still pretty new to the Hornet but am getting there.

That one's not obvious.  It has been known to trip up lots of newbies trying to turn the actual hold functions on or off (protip: always use the paddle to completely cancel any AP functions)
