Bananabrai Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 So on facbook it looks like we will get a TA (terrain avoidance) mode for the baguette. Sounds good to me, I am excited. Alias in Discord: Mailman
=36=Witcher Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Is it Terrain Avoidance, or only Terrain Mapping?

TLTeo Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 (edited) Looking at the FB video, it looks like Terrain Avoidance here means something like the modes in the Viggen or Jeff, where the radar is showing potential obstacles and their azimuth, rather than e.g. the Skyghawk, where the antenna is just scanning up and down and only showing what's straight ahead of the jet. Cool stuff, it's going to be really handy with the new clouds! Edited March 18, 2021 by TLTeo
Viking 1-1 Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Nice to see that they are still working on the jet! Before you call everything a "bug": RTFM & try again! Thank you. :music_whistling: I9-9900k, 32 GB RAM, Geforce RTX 2080 TI, 128 GB M2 SSD, 1 TB SSD, Track IR, Warthog Hotas

What you're talking about the Skyhawk is called "terrain following", so yes, this is different Terrain avoidance: Prepare your navigation, and say that during that leg between 2 waypoints you are flying at a specific altitude. Terrain avoidance allows you to check that you are clear of obstacles. Terrain following: It does allow you to fly the aircraft to stay at a specific height above the ground. So you can fly the aircraft in the vertical plan. The next step is automatic terrain following (Mirage 2000N & D). Edited March 19, 2021 by jojo 1 Mirage fanatic !
