Hi folks,

I need your help. I was playing around with the max FPS.

I used to cap the FPS in the NvidiaCP but I recently learned about the autoexec.cfg and "options.graphics.maxfps" and wanted to give it a try.

So I created an autoexec.cfg in the /user/savedgames/DCD.openbeta/config folder and put the line options.graphics.maxfps = 105 in there.

That had no effect  the FPS was still around 140 (note vsync, gsync, and maxfps in NCP was all set to off).

Than I fiddeled with the grapics.lua in the main config folder. There I found a line which said maxfps = 180. I set that to 105 and tried again.

And BOOM from thereon I only had 50(!) FPS and no matter what I do, I don't find a way back.

I returned the line to its original setting, I deleted the options.lua (user/savedgames), autoexec.cfg and even the /config/graphics.lua in the main game folder.

After I did that, the FPS went back to 120 in the menu, but when I started a mission DCS crashed.

Then I did an repair and DCS worked again, but I was again capped at 50 FPS.

Last thing I tried was a second try with the autoexec.cfg and the following line: options.graphics.maxfps = 30

...which led to the game being capped at 25(!) FPS.

I'm somewhat out of options...

any ideas? please!

Well since you fiddled with game folder cfg and something broke, I would suggest reinstall and don't forget to delete config in saved games folder after

yeah, of course, that will be my last resort.

But I am somewhat interested in what causes this behavior.

I mean I deleted the only file I messed with, and used the repair function to replace it with the stock file...

any other ideas?

Edit: and why is it those numbers? 25/50

Update:

I was able to isolate the problem.

It‘s actual the Nvidia Control Panel/ Game Ready Driver -

when I cap the frames in the NCP to 115, I actually get 115 FPS, if I let it on default uncapped, I will only get 50 FPS.

Don‘t know, how I triggered this behavior.

I will reinstall the GRD and see

EDIT

Reinstall didn‘t solve it...
