Anybody know which settings are more cpu intensive and which are more gpu?

Like some work the cpu more than the gpu and vise versa and maybe some or more memory intensive.
seems like it would be easier to adjust settings based on your system if u knew which were which. So if you’re gpu bound u may turn one thing down but if u have headroom on the cpu, u may be able to squeeze a little more out somewhere else. Same with the ram maybe?

My view on the question is:

 - GPU:  Textures, resolution and similar

 - Memory: Number of units, complexity of map, pre-load radius

 - CPU: Complexity and number of objects to track.  My belief is that pathfinding is very CPU intensive, which is why I've removed infantry from most of my missions, have simplified the waypoint objectives for ground vehicles and where possible, replaced "vehicles" with "statics" when I don't really need the tank/APC to move

Any of the above can be a bottleneck.  The good news is that the RAM can be fairly easily dealt with, i.e. by throwing at least 32GB of RAM into your system and then disabling memory compression.

The CPU/GPU side of things is a balance and I've tried to tailor my missions and settings to ensure that they avoid maxing out my system too much, as that results in stutters.

I have 32gb of ram. How do I turn off compression?

also. Do u know which settings in the options are more gpu vs cpu I intensive?

Unloads the cpu . Results will vary , as always , depending on your system and settings .
