Altimeter QFE setting + ILS data

Waiting for the ATC to give QNH/ QFE pressure in hPa, you will need this table.

 

And you need to set the altimeter to QFE to use correctly the synthetic runway.

Well that doesn't seem right. The PCN has the waypoint elevation.

For the synthetic runway the system uses the altimeter.

On possible reason for this I can imagine is that the INS drift in altitude estimation too.

 

After a long air defense mission in poor weather, it would be unlikely you would be able to perform INS update before landing with the tools available aboard the Mirage 2000C.

Using altimeter (QNH) and subtracting waypoint elevation is also "using the altimeter" and is the same calculation with same accuracy, no INS involved. Does AdlA use QFE?

Newer aircraft uses QNH or can use both.

 

Mirage 2000C RDI is what it is...anyway, in DCS, AI ATC gives me QFE !

Quick question.  Every time I cold start it seems the Altimeter is already set correctly for me.  Is that right?  I double check the table on take-off after ATC gives me the setting, and it's always right.  I've never noticed before, but does the ATC give you an altimeter setting during approach?

Yes, when you contact ATC he will give you QFE in inch Hg.

That's why you need to convert to hPa.

If you depart and return to the same air base you will most likely not need my files.

 

But QFE is different on each airport.

To make it simple:

- QFE setting: altimeter at 0 on the ground.

- QNH setting: altimeter gives you airport elevation on the ground.

But from the test I did, ATC only tells QFE on radio. We are lucky because this is what Mirage 2000C system uses for synthetic runway.

 

If you want to land with ILS on a different airport than the one set in mission editor, then you will need these files.

Excellent, thank you for the clarification.  It's been a few years since I've flown the Mirage, and I'm finding it refreshingly different (and FUN) from the MFD-laden Hornet and Viper.
