correct as is F18 moving map bug

Was curious if anyone else is having an issue where the moving map is broken it only shows about half of the map and the rest is black as if the map is off happens rather I hot or cold start the aircraft for about a 2second period the whole map did populate then went back to cut in half

That sometimes happens normally if you're on the edge of the detailed portion of the DCS map, the whole terrain isn't covered by the map layer. You can check this out yourself by going into the mission editor and selecting the "map" layer. 

 

Otherwise I haven't noticed anything unusual with the map in my playtesting on the Persian Gulf so far.

yes

beside being off detailed part of the terrain as Bunny Clark says, there is a bug that sometimes makes a part or all of hornet's map be replaced with black. usually the map returns back after about 10 seconds for me. rarely, it flickers on and off for a second. i dont know what triggers it but it happens uncommonly and fixes itself after some time.
