Just before my enemy explodes there is a small but noticeable freeze before impact in the game, dont notice it online much, probably because im in the moment but offline i see it clearly. I remember a long time ago there was a value that you could change in a file somewere to stop this from happenning or maybe it was a mod. Does anyone know about this and how to solve it from happenning. I have a very fast system so i no it is not it and remember there was a way, any help would be great thanks.

If he has a fast system, I don't think he needs that. A decent system shouldn't really have any problems with explosions causing a stutter.

 

I wish I could help. I know next to nothing about these things. I would probably just mess with some video card settings, maybe even try a defrag and reinstall.

 

Hey, how about flares? Do you get any slow down from those? Just a thought since both that mod SKF linked and the flare mod do similar things like tinkering with shaders.

I noticed when somebody is crashed or get hit, server pauses? For 0.5 sec or less I notice these pauses, quite often before server text messages show up.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

I think this happens because how the game is coded. ED most confirm this. I think the CPU is calculating something, and then the GPU is waiting for the CPU to show what he has calculated. Something like this. Unfornuately Lock On is very CPU demanding and I don´t think the code is optimized enough. Even if you have a NASA system, if bad coding occur, no system would help. I think how the code is written is the mainproblem. I love Lock On FC, but sometimes I wish ED had wrote a better code. Hope BS will be better coded.

ps 1.1 shader mod (and fire looks like it)

dxdiag sound accelaration standart

and last but not least ...hardcore ..sound.cfg explosions 3Dsound=false

 

thats fixes it definitly

 

PS: besides cuz i had to add this 2cent comment.... even USAF F-18 has better explosions and smokes then lockon...(thinking)

Really? I think the explosions in LOMAC are wonderful. Yeah, you only really have two options for a plane - disintegrate or what I like to call "smoking fall to earth", but both look amazing IMO. Especially when you get a kill with a heater and the flaming wreck keeps flying forward right over your canopy. Very satisfying.

 

The other thing I like is when you shoot at a tank with the A-10s gun and it continues to roll forward as flames billow out, finally stopping and exploding.

if you grow over a decate in simworld..then you have seen alot alternatives to compare..... truly LockOn is great sim...buuut here and there few things were solved better from other products.....i just hope Looking around is also a source of inspiration for our DevS here.

I haven't played every sim in the past decade, but I've played a few. I know what you mean. All of them are basically showing the same thing, just in different ways. They all look pretty good until you get up close and look at the effect. Even LOMAC falls short in this area sometimes. I like it though, its certainly my favorite. :)
