Can you Copy DCS from 1 drive into another, or will it continue to use the original drive to work?

i reinstalled windows, downloaded DCS and ran it from a 120gb SSD drive.  Didnt work out

Can i copy the entire DCS BETA folder to my 1TB HDD hard drive?  Or will it continue to access the DCS files in my SSD drive, make saves to that drive, update to that drive etc.

Will copying DCS to a new drive.. make it work entirely in THAT drive?

Yes, you can move your DCS installation to another drive, it works.

  1. Copy (do NOT cut) the main folder \DCS World\ (or \DCS World OpenBeta\ ) into your 1 TB HDD.
  2. Change your DCS icons properties so they reach the new location.
  3. Launch DCS. Test SP and MP and ensure your disk is fast enough (DCS does a lot of file access during a flight).
  4. If you're happy with the performance, delete the former folder from your SSD.

Most important thing : you do NOT want to mess with this folder: C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS (or DCS.openbeta). Leave it in place so DCS can find it.

Thank you.

I was hoping playing from a SSD would clean up the blur from head movement, but it didnt. 😞   At least i dont have to download DCS twice.

Thats a win in my book, Thanks Flaps.
