Can a HP Reverb G2 be installed on a system with a Valve Index already installed?

Have a high end system with Valve Index. Considering getting the HP Reverb G2 but would like to keep the Valve index still on the system. Is this possible or do you have to remove the Valve Index setup from system to enable a HP Reverb setup?
I would like to keep both options so they can be swapped over quite quickly.

Thanks for any help

I would think as long as the Index is not connected to USB you should be fine.

I have a Reverb G2 and a Vive pro with the wireless module.

Steam VR detects the Reverb first, I have to unplug it to use the Vive.

For me it's not a problem and I can use one or the other whenever I want to.

I upgraded from an Index to a G2 and didn't have to do any kind of uninstall of the Index stuff.

How did your upgrade go. Which headset did you find the best in the end.

Thanks

It went smooth, or at least I can't remember any hiccups with it (it was a few months ago). It seems to point parts of SteamVR to WMR.. I'm checking the SteamVR settings, and it has "Windows Mixed Reality" listed for "Current OpenXR Runtime" in the Developer tab, with an option to set it to SteamVR.

So if you wanted to switch between the Index and G2 there might be some extra steps beyond just switching which one is plugged in.. but after using the G2 honestly I haven't thought for a second to go back to the Index. I've actually considered getting a 2nd G2 as a backup / guest headset.

Imo, the Index has better design, better speakers, better controllers, faster frame rate... basically everything about it is better than the G2... except for the display. But the G2 display looks so good, it outweighs all that other stuff.

Thanks for that good to know. I have heard the microphone is not very good with the G2. Just concerned as use voice commands quite a bit. What’s your experience?

Thanks again

I use the G2 mic for Voice Attack and Vaicom Pro with DCS.

Seems to work fine for me.

I haven't had any issues with the mic. Use Vaicom all the time with it.

The speakers though.. one of mine blew and was really crackily. I'd recommend setting system volume to like 40% - 50% when first using the headset. It pumps too much signal to the speakers by default. Silver lining for that.. I had read tons of horror stories about HP support... and while they may be true... at least in my case, I contacted HP support via their website, had a ticket created, and had replacement speakers in hand within a week free-of-charge.
