^^^ what are you like the government oposition? Very pointless to just say "no that's not right" and not even saying what the the right then is?

Actually he's correct - aside the ET, 'fixing' the scanning sectors of the 120 and 77 would just castrate them right now.

You need to fix chaff resistance first, and add INS guidance to them; otherwise it's moot.

See I don't agree... fixing the scannign sectors would indeed get it more realistic but in the end if people would suport the missile and actually fire it when they are suposed to and not maddog, that would compensate for other deficiencies.

Er no, it actually wouldn't compensate for squat. Sorry Kuky, feel free to disagree but I think I have a somewhat better grasp on the mechanics of how these things work within LOMAC.

You'll basically break those missiles even worse if you don't address /all/ of those issues together.

Yes the missiles are the problem but then who gives a toss about the plane?

The first question is does it fly correctly?

And second how did it get up there in the first place?

No questions so far.

I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.

What more do you think he could have done? He went about as far as possible with LRM :P

yes, I remember that nug, happened to me also. Had lock and propper LA, when I launched the LRM code saw it a LAOveride.

It's a LOMAC issue, not an LRM issue. That's why he stopped.

The problem was that I had a lock on a target, I fired my ET and it dropped all my missiles, even though I had a LA and I didn't press the LA button.
That problem will be as good as unfixable through LUA scripts. The LRM mod has to guess whether or not you have a launch authorization, and that will depend on range, aspect, maybe even the surrounding temperatures for all we know. Unless we get to actual code that is used in LockOn to say whether you are authorized or not, the LRM mod has to guess and will guess wrong sometimes. As a result, people won't like it and will go fly elsewhere.

There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

@ GG and Devs

Im not aware of code structure in lockon but shouldnt things like chaff- resistance, parameters of seaker-logic be written somewhere finally as values or/and variables ?

Without composing new formulas and routines in codes, cant things just slightly be improved by variating those?

I mean, how difficult to change these for ED and release a quick patch?

 possible?

[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Anything is possible, as for a 'quick patch' I really don't know that they'd want to - you might think it's quick, but it isn't ... not when they have to shift the dev environment over one way, do things, release, test, then shift again, etc.

The idea AS is that just switching from developing DCS to LOFC and then back again takes a significant amount of time in software-land :)

noone said the whole company must switch structure...just one of them spare-time ....juuuuuuuust few variables man.... done so often in F4 world....(cuz access) ...

[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

And that one coder is developing that piece of FM or AI that will now be late when it comes to DCS, and other coders might depend on.

It's not that simple AS, this is ED, not microsoft. They have 55 staff, not 55000 coders ;)

This also isn't some stolen code you can work on at leisure - they make money off of this stuff, and guess what they'll prioritize.

Oh i'd better start speaking here.

Many functions have been cut out of lrm. Right now I've

started looking at if I can make some work on it.

At the moment thre is a stable version including

- TWS follows target

- IFF with F-15

- Reduced Chaff

- Anti BarrellSploit

- Anti Low FlySploit

I believe this version is running on 104th server in HL

So pretty much only the core functionality left.

These things WORK.

When it comes to dealing with maddogs if I ever host a game I'll probably

ban the use of ETs on my server altogether. Now that ERs work, and ETs

killing is used mostly BVR head on (where they should not work),

I don't see why they should be included at all... OF course this is up to

everyone for their own server to decide, but LRM will not deal with

maddogs anymore.

S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'

Like I said ... 55 staff ... not all of them code. And you'd probably be surprised at how many resources it takes to patch an even easier piece of software the moment it's out the door ... I see that often enough where I work.

I too would so like to see few things only changed/tweaked in LockOn as after all it will be some time untill DCS fighter(s) are done leaving only LockOn as something I could fly for... modern air combat.

I too don't think it would not take long time to chage few variables for missiles performance etc as they seems to be coded that way... they seem to be just variables that can be edited easily (if you know where and have the access)... I do understand DCS should be worked on as this is the future but again... some small patch just to fix these major deficiencies in LockOn would be so welcomed by the whole community.

I don't really think we will get this kind of fix but I am still little hopefull... LockOn has been so much improved with graphical addons and mods fixing maddoging and few other things would make it in a way a really well done flight sim.

They say nice word opens steel doors so maybe an honest and nice please will do the trick :)
