Hornet rudder pedal travel

Dragon1-1

Recommended Posts

The rudder pedals in the Hornet cockpit don't actually move like the real thing. The pedals are a fixed bar rotating around a pivot, with a rather short travel and no mechanism for keeping the pedal surface straight. Any references to +-5 inches of travel refer to pedals adjustment range. The actual travel is +-1 inch. They are actually very similar to how F-16 pedals work, and the Viper's cockpit depicts them correctly. I know it's probably not top priority, but it'd be nice to see that addressed.

I do not have much more information on those, other than these are from the real Hornet. You can see the pedal adjustment gizmo near the front, and the track they move on, as well as the pivoting bar and details of toebrake rollers. It's an earlier model than what we have, as evidenced by the toe guards (they were supposedly done away with at some point).

I take no credit and claim no ownership of those photos, they were originally posted on OpenHornet project Discord.
