What settings controls this background colour?

I know about increasing/decreasing the mask size.

I am trying to keep it black so I don't see the bottom part of the blue background in my peripheral while flying. It is very distracting.

Thanks

To keep it black MSAA has to be on ... don’t know why

That's really unfortunate, because I use 3Dmigoto mod which requires MSAA to be turned off...

Shall we count it as a bug? It can't be intentional, the mask should be black all the time not transparent.

Yes, I also experience this bug. It can't be seen directly, but only detected by your periperal vision mainly at the bottom of the screen in the HMD.

Very annoying indeed.

if you  decrease the mask size to 0.99  by editing the <dcsgamepath>\Bazar\shaders\HMDMask.fx and modify the line:

float4 vsOctagonMask(in float2 pos:POSITION0): SV_POSITION0

{

return float4(pos, 1, 1);
}

to

float4 vsOctagonMask(in float2 pos:POSITION0): SV_POSITION0

{

return float4(pos, 0.99, 0.99);
}

and you should be good if you can still see it drop to .98 etc... if you are going to do this take a copy of the original file first to restore, i would use a mod manager to apply it.

Changing those values does not help at the COLOR of the outside of the mask (black vs transparent), only turning on MSAA does.

But changing MSAA on really switches the mask to black as intended.

No it doesn’t change the colour… I never said it did. It changes the size of the mask, reducing the numbers reduces the visibility of the edge of the mask…
