-Relax- Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 (edited) Hello first of all sry if my eng is not all the way correct. So, i am thinking about to buy a new Joystick. I know there are already informations about that in the internet, but i would like to ask myself here to get some help from people who have this sticks already used. First i want to say when i have buy my "x52Pro" i had also orderd the "Thrustmaster Warthog", but i have send it back as it was too "hard" to move for me in the small movements from the center position (it just feel to stiff for me) and i like to have some more "easy" going stick from the center. Are the VKB or Virpil Sticks more "easy" going? (Specially near the center position). I heard the WinWing Super Libra is... So i was think to go for it, but i would like to have maybe 1 more 4 Way switch and there comes the VKP or Virpil in the list. -I would also like to have a "Twist Axis" ("Z" Axis) for the Rudder in the Stick. -Also i like to be able to use it with a Base on the Desktop/Table. So here are the Sticks i am thinking about. The first one is questionable: The Shop-Page says "Not Suitable for Desktop Use", but it also say its compatible with the "VPC WarBRD Base" (Compact Design for Desktop Use). It Seems to have no Twist Axis!? If one or two of this is the case the 1st Stick ("VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Grip") is a no-go. 1: VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Grip + VPC WarBRD Base (360€) ("Twist Axis"? + Desktop/Table usable?) 2: VPC Constellation ALPHA-R + VPC WarBRD Base (380€) 3: Gunfighter Mk.III ‘Modern Combat Edition’ + Gunfighter Tabletop + Built in Twist-Adapter (434€) 4: Gunfighter Mk.III ‘Modern Combat Edition’ Ultimate + Gunfighter Tabletop + Built in Twist-Adapter (524€) I dont see the difference between the Gunfighter Mk.III ‘Modern Combat Edition’ and the Ultimate Edition realy to be honest. But the Ultimate has almost 100€ higher price. From the Pictures i only see difference in color of 2 buttons (black and not grey as in the non ultimate edt.) Otherwise the they add this one the shop page for the ultimate edt.: 24-32 programmable buttons, based on module installed (The non ultimate edt. say only 24 buttons) - but what "module" they mean?) Ministick module (where is this module? cant see on pictures. do i need to buys them seperatly? I cant find on there page such module) Hat switch module (where is this module? cant see on pictures. do i need to buys them seperatly? I cant find on there page such module) Button caps (black color) (this are the buttons on picture who are black now and not grey i guess) Screwdriver Set of grip fasteners 5: FA-18 JOYSTICK WinWing (SUPER LIBRA) + "Z" Axis (380€) The WinWing has no Hand-rest.. on my x52Pro i have one and i like it. How it feels after longer sessions? 6: Titanwolf Vulture Joystick (Twist "Z" Axis ?) (90€) The "cheap" one (maybe to safe money?) - Z Axis unknown. Number 4 is actualy out of the race if there are no realy good valid reason it. 1, 2, 3 or 5 will be the next step i guess. I have read that this are all good sticks, but asking again specialy for the "smooth/easy" movements arround the center for example compared to the "Thrustmaster Warthog" or "Saitek x52 Pro". But any else opinions on this sticks are welcome too. Thx Also are there any knews when the F16 Throttle from WinWing is comming? greets Edited May 10, 2021 by -Relax-
-Relax- Posted May 11, 2021 Author Posted May 11, 2021 Alright ,after some more research and watching reviews on youtube i now i see the difference between the VKB Mk III "normal/pro" and the "ultimate". Still not sure if i could replace a switch on the Mk III "non ultimate" if i get some. Anyway my favorites are now 2 or 3. 2: VPC Constellation ALPHA-R + VPC WarBRD Base (380€) or 3: Gunfighter Mk.III ‘Modern Combat Edition’ + Gunfighter Tabletop + Built in Twist-Adapter (434€) As the VKB (3) is plastic i am not for sure if this could become a little thing here.. For long Life Time. Also what i am not sure is about the "trim hat" https://youtu.be/PXtfnMHl6Dg?t=140 Like in this video explained i am used to have a click feedback for trim. In DCS it is not possible to use in all planes tim as AXIS. Like SU27 or F18C i think also not. But i heard the Hat switch on the VKB can be turned from axis to button, so i could still use it for trim with no axis, but i am not sure how it will goes and if i can get used to it like this guy in the video. How do most people trim with this 2 Sticks? Axis, Buttons? At the moment i just safe in memory how much clicks i trimed. So i can go easy 3 clicks back to normal for example. Could this be a problem with such a hat Axis hat switch? Sry if maybe hard explanation (englisch) but i hope you understand. With this sad i maybe should go for the Virpil (2) but i like the design a little more from the VKB (3). So its still quite 50/50 choice. Also still would like to have some answers to the "easy" stick movements near the center position compared to the "Thrustmaster Warthog"

You can install various cams on both which give a different feel around center or edges. I'm running my Virpil WarBRD base with a TM Warthog stick mounted to it and use no-center cams. With these you don't feel the center point. Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL. Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!
agrasyuk Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 (edited) I do like my Virpil joystick. Chair mounted, 200mm extension, hard springs tightened all the way in. provides sufficient resistance. It's very precise, works with TMWH grip. Little bit of slop/sencitivity around center point but with a bit of dead zone (2-3)experience is great. Much better then warthog (I have a base to sell if anyone needs) No experience with VKB but word on the street is that they are somewhat even higher end then Virpil. The only real downside to virpil is their logo. Wing wing libra gimbal looks very intriguing. Edited May 12, 2021 by agrasyuk Anton. My pit build thread . Simple and cheap UFC project
