MP Replay Tracks: How to "take control?"

In single-player replay tracks, there is an option in the escape menu to "take control" of your aircraft during the replay. This option appears to be missing on multiplayer tracks. Is there any way to enable this?

As far as i know there is no way to enable it because they are not the same type of recording - SP & MP tracks.

I wonder if there's any way to "hack" into it. The client tracks aren't really different than offline tracks other than the inclusion of other clients flying around.

Basically, I was trying to figure out a way to fly formation with a pre-recording of myself, since the AI are crap at doing anything and I rarely get a chance to go online and do formation with other skilled players who can actually do form stuff. Proof of concept works, as I can sit in the cockpit of Aircraft A and watch Aircraft B--a track of what I flew--fly around but I cannot take control of Aircraft A in order to fly along with Aircraft B.
