I just updated my old i7-2600k after many years faithful service and bought an i5-11600k

The 1160k says 'turbo boost up to 4.9ghz' now if you are my vintage, turbo boost was something Michael Knight pressed on his speaking Trans Am called KIT.

Do I have to press a Turbo Boost (aka Overclock it) or does it do this automatically when DCS demands MOAR!!!

Appreciate the help.

I think you can also go to your power management advance settings and select a high performance mode. Name a custom profile called DCS high performance so the cpu doesn’t throttle. I’m not 100% sure with your system but with mine that’s what I do.

It's automatic yes, but that doesn't mean DCS will trigger the maximum boost. It all depends...
Someone who's a lot more savvy than me can probably explain that: does the application have full control over CPU load or does Windows have the final word in scheduling?

It also depends on your Windows settings, if you let it do, it will take over compelttely your mermory use for Windows background aps, it's a bit demanding but you can control it, starting with task scheduling including updates and paging files.

Personally I disable everything that I don't need so as to make sure nothing runs in the background when I play any game...
