Some issues in Mission 3. flown with current OB version 2.7.3.8494 (June 30).

 

  1. There is a View.lua included in the mission file which messed up my views. I was able to remove the config folder inside the mission file and all was good.
  2. When the bombers spawn, two of them crash into each other immediately (without units removed) --> 1.jpg
  3. There was real carnage when the bombers let loose their bombs. --> 2.jpg and 3.jpg. It seems two bombers always fly on top of each other.
  4. I also had troubles keeping up with the others during the initial climb to altitude during this and mission-2. With 3000rpm and almost always full power I was kind of keeping pace, but it is a very steep climb. I haven’t flown the P-51 for a while, so I am not sure if it used to climb faster. It seems other users have the same issue.

I also had problems with keeping up with the other planes in these missions and a number of others.  I made sure the mixture setting was correct and the plane was trimmed but still had problems. I had to stop playing this great campaign as a result. 😞

Hi, thanks a lot for reporting these!

 

1)  I removed it now, thanks!

2-3) In the mission editor I can tell the AI WHAT to do, but HOW they perform it is usually hard coded in the AI logic. I also started seeing these happen from time to time, but they don't overlap on spawn in the editor, and they are told to fly in proper formation - yet they don't. The best would be to record a track of this so I can send it to ED and they can have a look. AI behavior often gets changed or messed up, and something that works fine for years may stop working properly after a random update.

4) This affects all WW2 planes actually. Their climb speed and angle is hard coded, I can't change it from the ME. WWII AI planes climb at nearly full throttle, at the perfect speed and angle, perfectly trimmed. We are humans, and we're bound to have a little slip, and our speed goes up and down. I noticed that if you get slower than your ideal climb speed it's very hard to accelerate from there. Anyhow, it is not easy, but quite possible, it just takes practice. Ironically, when the AI needs to keep up with you, they lag behind...the DCS AI is often a mystery...

 

So if you could attach a track for 2 and 3 that would be really helpful, because if I send ED the screenshots, the first thing they will tell me is to send a track.
