Hawkeye60 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 (edited) I have two installs. OB and stable. Pretty much the same build at present . I wanted to get better loading times, especially from a cold boot. This is what I did. I keep OB as my "test" build. All modulus and terrains are installed. I own most ALL of them...... Yea, Addicted..... But I am a WWII fan, first and foremost. So to that end, I made stable into a dedicated WW II sim! Only WWII related mods and assets are installed. Same with the ED Modules. No Nevada, Syria, or modern aircraft. Three maps. Channel, Normandy, and Pacific. I have tested it for a few days and find the sim loads like lightning using stable! Crawls like molasses using OB. The difference is Very apparent! So remove anything you do not use on a regular basis. Trim the FAT! (Never thought I would call DCS FAT!) All loading, from decktop to in sim has increased substantially! Give it a go! Nothing to lose, Less pain to gain! Cheers! YMMV Edited July 26, 2021 by Hawkeye60 1 "Yeah, and though I work in the valley of Death, I will fear no Evil. For where there is one, there is always three. I preparest my aircraft to receive the Iron that will be delivered in the presence of my enemies. Thy ALCM and JDAM they comfort me. Power was given unto the aircrew to make peace upon the world by way of the sword. And when the call went out, Behold the "Sword of Stealth". And his name was Death. And Hell followed him. For the day of wrath has come and no mercy shall be given."
Baldrick33 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 (edited) I used to do this but found that recent updates made DCS load much faster with lots of modules & terrains. I tried it a few days ago and there was five seconds difference between a fully loaded OB and Stable with one terrain and two aircraft. 30 seconds (Stable) vs 35 seconds (OB). It just isn't worth maintaining two environments for IMHO.
