S. Low Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Track attached. I used the fuel tank preset loadout with full internal fuel and cannon ammo. Weight is 28,799 lbs. I think I did the full on backflip loop at around 240kph. Then once I stabilized at a lower altitude I attempted to do a roll and it did work, but I just needed some more altitude as I bottomed out on the ground and blew up. I'm not a pilot, nor am I an engineer, but I don't think a fully laden Mi-24 should behave this way? Love the helo regardless. Thanks fellas. hindfmtest.trk 1
S. Low Posted July 28, 2021 Author Posted July 28, 2021 (edited) Ok I felt like I was too hasty in reporting this so I did further investigation. I loaded up the Mi-8, UH-1, and the Ka-50 all as heavily as I could and tried a loop. The Mi-8 did the same thing that the hind did, and also at 28,000ish lbs: Looped back until upside down and then rotated around to be rotors up as it dove down. So to adjust my post, it's not a "full loop" but rather a sort of immelman that the Mi-24 and Mi-8 are doing. The UH-1 and the Ka-50 (trimmer held or not) both behaved differently to the Mi-8 and Mi-24, but similarly to each other in that once they went vertical the loop stopped and they stalled out and fell down tail first. Both of them naturally swung around to be nose-first in the dive. The UH-1 recovered, the Ka-50 had its rotor blades break off. Obviously it is difficult to model a helo, and especially difficult to model one in flight regimes that basically no one would ever be in. However, the much lighter Huey feels more sluggish in a loop and roll than the heavier Mi-8 and Mi-24. Edited July 28, 2021 by S. Low 1
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted July 28, 2021 ED Team Posted July 28, 2021 Hi, I will ask the team to take a look, we also have pilot SME's who will know best. During early access there will be a flight model review and tweaks. Thanks 1 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted July 29, 2021 ED Team Posted July 29, 2021 Change title - track shows a partial flip into a roll. While this manoeuvre is possible in real life, for obvious reason ( care for the aircraft and pilot ) it would not be performed. Forum rules - DCS Crashing?
