Hello.. after shoot down the two helos, four phantoms appear... is needed shoot down the four or is posible to run away?

I have shoot down three, but only with canon and the SAMS shooting me, I could not shoot down the fourth (at least consciously), and after run away to the coast, I have been able to complete the mission. I dont know if since first moment I had the option of run away or some of my bullets have ended up shooting down.

Hi, the four bogies have to be destroyed to progress to next mission that is one of the challenges.

You cannot run away as you have received orders from Strike to engage. You do not have to physically kill all four bogies as your wingman will be engaging with you. He will only take out two at most so you must physically take out at least two.

Once all four are down you will receive a message from  your wingman, 'Wave' confirming that they are all down.  You will then get a request to  follow him .

You should not be able to pass the mission if these things have not taken place. Was this the case with you?

Hope this helps

You should have 1 aim-120C and 3 (iirc) aim-9x's left after destroying the helo's (1 aim-9 will kill em both).

Soon as you kill the helo's, create some distance between you and the F-4's (while gaining altitude) before committing. It will prevent you from getting within SAM range when engaging the fighters.

(Well, that worked for me at least 😉)

Helicopters are destroyed on aim-9 without a radar station. After that, I cannot find anyone on the radar, except for my wingman 410. As a result, after a while the enemy knocks me down, not showing up on the radar. I'm probably doing something wrong.

You are given the direction they are coming from.

Regarding the Radar have a look at these videos.

Hope this helps, Merry Christmas!

I don't know what is going on in this mission... I destroy the helicopters, shoot down the 4 F-4s but Wave goes south at 8000 feet and doesn't land anywhere.

I have repeated the mission 5 times and the same thing happens in all 5... I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

Best regards

Sorry I just saw another post where it says that the update has broken the campaign in this mission.... I'll have to skip the mission but it's a lot of fun.

I am very happy with the purchase of this campaign! Congratulations!

Hi

No I had fixed this once. It could be this latest update has broken it again.
Are you playing this in open beta and if so are you using the MT version. Also are you running any mods. If you have Tacview, a file of one of your flights would be useful. Thanks for the heads up.

EDIT 17 April 23 :  Have just flown the  mission in the normal version ( not EZ A2A or Increased difficulty) in the current open beta. All worked as it should so cannot repeat this end. Not tried in MT yet.

Are you sure you that all four bandits were killed? The radio messages will confirm this.

Hi @Biggles81

As Ford says concentrate on the two on the right your wing should go for the ones on the left. You have one 120 so can get one at quite a distance which should make them defensive. Your main advantage is your Aim9x missiles. These linked with your helmet mounted display means you can take out aircraft out at nearly 90 degrees.  Fly aggressively and keep changing direction once engaged.

Good luck 🙂🤞

Those Phantoms are proving very pesky.  Anyone come up with a good strategy on killing them?

To evade the AIM-7, execute a 39 maneuver or fly directly away.

After accelerating towards the sun, maintain a standoff distance of 7-8 nautical miles to entice the F-4s to pursue. Continuously monitor the F-4s using both visual cues and SA data link. Once you have a substantial energy advantage, turn towards the F-4s, reducing throttle to minimize your IR signature. Proactively deploy flares and, at the optimal engagement range, launch AIM-9X missiles. By leveraging the sun's glare, helmet-mounted cueing + ACM mode, and the AIM-9X's high off-boresight capability, you can effectively defeat two F-4s.

When I first played the mission, I didn't even notice that I had a AIM-120...
