RobGordon Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Hey guys! I have a problem with my x52 running on XP x64. After the installation, everything works fine except for these three buttons: The POV2, the Fire Button and Button A (all in a row). It's very strange because all other buttons, sliders and axis work completely normal. I know that this isn't a hardware issue because I've tried it on XP x32 on another partition and the buttons work. I've tried the latest drivers from the saitek download page as well as older drivers from the FTP server but still no luck. I posted the problem on the saitek forum but haven't received and answer yet so I thought maybe someone here had similar issues. Any ideas? Thanks! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Airway Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I'm afraid to say that if its not working in the control panel, it seems to be a hardware problem.
RobGordon Posted October 30, 2008 Author Posted October 30, 2008 It works perfectly in x32, so how can that be a HW issue? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Airway Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 It works fine for me 64bit, so how can it not be HW issue, when it doesn't work for you? Once more: Not working in CP? Are you using latest drivers? Did you try another USB port?

Are you using latest drivers? Did you try another USB port? Because it works in 32-bit on his system, it is most likely not a hardware problem, but a problem specifically related to his 64-bit software setup. Whether that is the OS installation, or the driver installation, I don't know. As Airway already mentions, the X52 is compatible with Vista 64-bit, see also Microsoft website My guess, software problem. Solution: not really anything but trying stuff. Reinstall vista perhaps? Edit: Where exactly do those buttons not work? In Saitek software, in windows calibration, in game, or none of the above? MSI 870A-G54, AMD Phenom II X2 555 @Phenom II X4 B55 BE, 3.2 GHz quad-core, Asus EAH4870 DK/HTDI/512MD5, OCZ Gold Edition DDR3 1333MHz 4GB Kit Low-Voltage. Budget = Cheap = Good :D
FVMAD Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 try these ones ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/xpvista/ or betas ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/beta/ :)
RobGordon Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) Edit: Where exactly do those buttons not work? In Saitek software, in windows calibration, in game, or none of the above? That would be none of the above. Thanks for the links =FV=MAD, I'll try those out tonight. Edited November 26, 2008 by RobGordon [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RobGordon Posted November 29, 2008 Author Posted November 29, 2008 Ok, I have some new information concerning my strange X52 problem. When I start up my computer, I open up the Saitek Profiler and then I select the control panel. As of now, the 3 buttons I mentioned do not work, BUT! Last time I just started to press the POV2 in a circular motion and after some time, about 10 rounds, the buttons started working, all three of them. The strange thing is that I have to do this every time I start my computer. I really have no clue to what this could be. I'm running Vista x64 with the latest saitek drivers. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Slayer Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 (edited) Sounds like some kind of USB or power management issue or a driver issue (hence it works under 1 OS and not the other). You didn't say what motherboard you have....the first thing I'd do is see if there are any updated chipset drivers. Seems like I saw a post similar to this before on the Saitek forums. Heres a few things they suggested: Try moving to a different USB port. Try going into your control panel>device manager then look for your USB HUB (there may be several) on the list of hardware, right click it, pick properties Theres 2 tabs to look at here 1 is the power, it will tell you how much power each device is using and how much power is available per port. If you are exceeding it then you need to try a different port on a differnt HUB (if you can) The other tab to look at is the Power management tab. You want to make sure that the to UNCHECK the checkbox for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" Do this for all your hubs. Also somewhere on the saitek forum there is a utility or instructions on how to fully remove the driver. They have recomended to install new drivers over the top of the old ones, it will upgrade them properly and it's known to cause problems if you uninstall the old drivers then try to install the new ones. XP64 is pretty much abandonware at this point. Driver support is poor because it was not a popular OS and very few adopted it. I tested it a while ago and had many driver issues that were never resolved. I've since moved on to Vista x64 and never looked back.
