naizarak Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 Now that we have 2-week trials for modules, would be nice to see something similar for paid campaigns. Maybe publish a single mission from each campaign for free as a demo to showcase the gameplay style, story, realism level, etc. Ideally these demo missions could be posted directly on the campaign page so we wouldn't have to dig through the community files. 1
Reflected Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 I think this is a good idea, with some considerations: 1) Most campaigns have a storyline. If you post the first mission, it's usually some kind of introduction, it's probably not the most fun and action packed missions of the campaign, it won't do justice to the whole product. If you post the most fun mission, you give away some spoilers. 2) It would need to happen through ED, and the free demos should be updated automatically. I used to offer free samples from my campaign, uploading them to the user files section, but DCS always changes and I constantly need to update my missions to work flawlessly with the latest version. My problem was that I couldn't be sure the players downloaded the latest version every time I uploaded one - I'm sure most didn't - so there was a high risk of running an outdated version that wouldn't work properly, giving the wrong impression. But yeah, it would be great to be able to have a taste of what it's like. Then again, playing the devil's advocate, these campaigns only cost around 10 dollars, even less when on sale, which is not a whole lot of money to 'risk' after you watch a few playthrough missions on YouTube, that are widely available. I'm still FOR the free samples though 2 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
