hey guys, currently working on learning the awesome SLAM-ER. I got it to work in a basic precision TOO strike without MITL. However had a couple questions with it:

1) i added in an heading of 170, angle of 45 degrees, and speed of 0 but the missile ignored all of that and just went straight in

2) what does ERASE SLAMR do? i tried to google but nothing popped up.

3) what does UNDF HDG do?

Thanks!

- The ERASE function will zeroize (erase) all the GPS crypto keys onboard the weapon, rendering it useless. This is a security feature if the weapon needs to be jettisoned.

- UNDF HDG means 'undefined heading.' Like with JDAM, you can specify a terminal attack heading.

thanks. what would be the use case for pressing UNDF HDG?

UNDF HDG will clear an assigned HDG in the TERM parameters. With a HDG set in the TERM parameters, the dynamic IZLAR should change to reflect the desired attack direction. Clearing the assigned heading should provide a more tactical launch zone. Not sure if that's modeled though.

Not modeled yet, TERM HDG change does not affect the IZLAR on the HSI. For that reason, I'd avoid using TERM HDG, unless you absolutely have to (or are launching along the heading). You could launch outside valid parameters and not know about it, although this is less of an issue with the SLAM-ER.

trying to follow...are you talking about my first question?

1) i added in an heading of 170, angle of 45 degrees, and speed of 0 but the missile ignored all of that and just went straight in

Do these parameters not work currently?

Sorry, I meant to answer the poster above me, regarding the implementation of the dynamic IZLAR.

In your case for 1), I think that the system rejected your input because you set the terminal speed to 0. The missile cannot possibly achieve that. I think in a situation like that, the system should inform you that this is an invalid entry by double flashing the UFC, but I don't have the relevant manual.

ok. it was 0 because that is just the default value so i left it alone and didn't want to break it. but it seems leaving it alone in fact broke it 😄 . what should this value be for a correct firing solution? is there a range?

Oh, if that's the case, then it's not your fault. It could also mean that 0 is equivalent to undefined and the missile doesn't care about terminal speed.

If you entered a terminal azimuth only and it didn't work, then it's a bug. If you can replicate it, please create a short track showing the issue and post it in the Bugs section.
