Hi ED,

Lomac has so much detail in terms of heat haze, lighting, smoke etc....and also scratches on canopy...so WHY HAVE u guys not looked at lens flare from the sun.. A real pilot would also have this issue of sun gleaming through the canopy into his eyes. is it possible that we can get this effect in future lomac versions.

ALSO NOW>..the HUD FEELS SOOO TRANSPARENT....IT FEELS LIKE THERE IS NO GLASS THERE>....except in the su 25. can u guys modify the hud display so that it feels more like GLASS and 3d there...with reflecton and ligting specific to it.

thanx

Regarding the HUD. It would be a real nice touch if the HUD would "float" around. As we know, the HUD is just a reflection on a glass. Now if the pilot moves his head around a bit ( headshake in the sim ), the image on the glass would moves around too.

Il-2 has this effect, the crosshair on the reflector glass moves together with head movement wich gives a real nice feel.

And if we are at headshake anyway. In Lock On, headshake is by rotating the view. The view bounces up and down rotating around a fixed point of view. It would be much cooler if headshake was done by having no rotation ( or just a few ), but by moving the point of view up/down/left/right. That is much more as a real pilot ( or car driver ) experiences it. The human eye can compensate the shaking and keep looking straight ahead, but the head moves up/down, moving the PoV. Again Il-2/FB/PF does it that way and it gives a much better feeling of a 3d cockpit than the "rotation shaking".

Sorry for getting sidetracked, but this is somehow related to my HUD comment.

thats ok...yeah! its true...the hud as discussed in an earlier thread seems like a image pasted in front...it is supposed to be transclucent :D

It's true, IL-2 cockpits are much more lifelike, LO-MAC's to me seem comepletely 2D. Hardly any representation of depth when looking forward. That said I believe IL-2 has a degree of beliveability unlike any other sim. The cockpit, weather and general atmosphere are a much more compelling and exciting experience.

The text on the HUD should also be larger and stand out a bit more, and the ability to change the colour of the HUD disabled (as its nto realistic). Should be green text for all, IMO, with the ability to change the contrast...

Hello,

semi transparent and "floating" HUD would be very cool. IMHO it increase the realistic feeling in the cockpit more than the beautiful graphic of landscape ! I hope we can get a more realistic head movement in next add-on or project. The floting HUD can't work now, because the head doesn't change the position while turning, it should be more like that:

cockpit_view01.jpg

- the white circle is the head of the pilot

- the red halfcircle is the max. possible angel of view

- the green spot is the neck / turning point of the head

If ED is able to turn the head it like that, we would also be able to check 6 !

It would also cool if the head would move forward when you are in a spin, because of centrifugal force. A german MiG-29 pilot tell me that an pilot entered a spin and was not able to move this head back, because of the force. (He crashed the plane... !)

Not possible in lomac because of the way the sky is rendered I made a lens flare mod long time ago for lomac but it was only good at high noon times. The sun is made in a box (remember the demo of the black square moon) in the sky thus the effect cannot surpass that box nor can the light emitted from the flare. The reason it didnt work right for morning/evening is because you would see that box (around the sun) when sun came up or went down. Believe me after hours of work it was a real bummer.
