Cant exit auto acquisition radar modes

If I enter the close combat auto acquisition modes I can’t seem to exit back to rws.  The redkite tutorial I’ve watched says going sms right should get me back to rws.  It does kind of but it’s locked at 5km range. There’s no range buttons to press to increase range and it’s just stuck. Is this broken or has the procedure been changed since the tutorial? There must be a way out of close combat via the Hotas surely? Hope someone can help.

Check if you still have AA guns enabled. AFAIK they lock the range at 5nm.

Undesignate button or the appropriate OSB for RTS on the DDI's should work.  But if you happen to be in Guns AACQ mode, then you have to switch to a different weapon to get out of it.

When the Gun is selected there is no way out of ACM. Castle right however does not exit ACM. Use the Undesignate button on the stick (when the Gun isn't selected).

In the heat of combat I too frequently found myself inadvertently selecting guns with HOTAS Wep Select switch. Reassigned gun selection to another switch to eliminate that problem.
