3090 owners question

Hi Guys,

 

Just out of interest if you own a 3090 and NOT  using VR do you run with full settings on or do you turn some setting off or down?

Guess it would depend heavily on what resolution you're talking about.

No they're not running all high settings if they want playable fps at that resolution. I'm at 3440x1440  MSAA 2x, shadows low, visib range ultra (extreme is highest) and I get 45-60 FPS on the ground on Marianas (multiplayer), 85+ at altitude.

I run high settings in 2D and almost everything in VR with my 3090 no probs.

I have msaa 2x and ssaa 1.5 with everything on high except civil traffic (low), heat blur (low), depth of field (off), lens effects (none), sslr (off), ssao (off) and anisotropic filter (16x). 3440x1440 resolution and runs +50/+60fps down low (lots of trees) and about +120fps looking up.

I know the game engine is not 100% perfect so just wanted to know how some 3090 owners where setting their cards up to compensate for good game play.

Every system is a little bit different. Some have bottlenecks where you wouldn't expect them. I'd say you need to experiment and see what works best for you. I will say this though, Shadows and Visibility range are usually critical as they are drawcalls and depend on the CPU cycles, so if you're seeing performance issues this is usually where they occur as in 2d the CPU is usually the bottleneck.

2D : 
With a 3090 and a decent CPU you can pretty much turn all settings to highest , i've tested this myself but at 3440x1440P . 
4k is a lot more pixels so you might have to turn some things down a bit. (maybe not, i don't know)

 

3D:

LOL, when I saw the 3090 FE pop up at MRSP...I couldn't say no....cheaper than a 3080 and 3080 ti going by todays prices, it was a no brainer!

 

I have everything maxed out.

 

What's the general consensus regarding SSLR and SSAO? 

 

I read that you may get a FPS drop if you enable SSLR and that DCS is not not really utilising SSAO.

3D:
well... sigh  

With 3D, using HP Reverb G2, I have +45fps most of the times with the same 2D DCS settings at the hardest part of the graphics. Gets to 90fps in the not busiest part. I am satisfied with I can get from the current set-up.
