Installed from Steam. I get a missing WWII Armour & Technics error now when running DCS open beta. I have all the required DLC.

I have...

1. De/reinstalled DCS thru Steam.

2. Reinstalled all my DLC.

3, Validated files several times.

4. Cleaned Saved Games folder.

5. Cleaned Steam download cache.

All the missions that came with the Spit, P-51 etc give me the above error. I also get errors on some servers saying I need the WWII Assets Pack installed. It is.

I can't log into some servers anymore.

Now every time I validate files it always comes up with a lot that needs replacing.

This is driving me nuts Any help would be appreciated.

Hi. I studied parts of your log I cannot find on my own log (DCS versions are identical):

When the WWII Assets Pack is installed and enabled, the game shouldn't look for them in this location:

2021-09-06 22:22:03.651 ALERT Scripting: loadfile: can't open './Mods/tech/WWII Units/Weapons/Weapons.lua'
2021-09-06 22:22:03.652 ALERT Scripting: loadfile: can't open './Mods/tech/WWII Units/Views.lua'
2021-09-06 22:22:03.653 ALERT Scripting: loadfile: can't open './Mods/tech/WWII Units/FW-190D-9/FW-190D-9.lua'
2021-09-06 22:22:03.654 ALERT Scripting: loadfile: can't open './Mods/tech/WWII Units/FW-190A-8/FW-190A-8.lua'
2021-09-06 22:22:03.655 ALERT Scripting: loadfile: can't open './Mods/tech/WWII Units/Bf-109K-4/Bf-109K-4.lua'
2021-09-06 22:22:03.657 ALERT Scripting: loadfile: can't open './Mods/tech/WWII Units/SpitfireLFMkIX/SpitfireLFMkIX.lua'
2021-09-06 22:22:03.658 ALERT Scripting: loadfile: can't open './Mods/tech/WWII Units/P-51D/P-51D.lua'
2021-09-06 22:22:03.659 ALERT Scripting: loadfile: can't open './Mods/tech/WWII Units/P-47D-30/P-47D-30.lua'
2021-09-06 22:22:03.660 ALERT Scripting: loadfile: can't open './Mods/tech/WWII Units/A-20G/A-20G.lua'

Instead, it should look for them in ".\CoreMods\WWII Units".

Same thing here: this file should be in ".\CoreMods\WWII Units".

2021-09-06 22:22:03.663 ERROR Scripting: [string "./Mods/tech/WWII Units/P-51D/F4U.lua"]:295: attempt to call global 'BrowningM2' (a nil value)

But most importantly, you seem to be missing this file (this line if from my own log):

2021-09-06 19:46:05.608 INFO SECURITYCONTROL: Loaded mods/tech/wwii units/dcs_module.pak.crypt

Here's my ".\CoreMods\WWII Units" folder:

And here's my ".\Mods\tech\WWII Units" folder:

What's in yours?

Thank you so much for responding. Yep, I notice there were errors in the log file but I'm not sure I want to be poking around in the DCS directory too much.

I do believe this whole thing started with me using multiple Mod Managers. I had installed one months prior but had forgotten about it. then it was suggested to use another which I did.

I'm pretty sure one or both or my stupidity that caused it.

I was hoping a reinstall and or validate would fix it. Nope.

Here's my directory structure. With the exception of a Textures directory in the CoreMods it looks like it's ok.

The big question is how do I fix it. Just go back through the errors and see if I can't move files?

Thanks for help Flappie. This has been driving me crazy.

I see you have two "dcs_module.pak.crypt" and two "entry.lua".

Delete the following files so your folders look like mine:

  • ./CoreMods/WWII Units/dcs_module.pak.crypt
  • ./Mods/WWII Units/entry.lua (it shows up as "entry" on your computer)

Then give DCS a try.

No way. It worked!!!

Flappie, thank you so much. I owe ya one bigtime.  Wonder why it kept those file entries even after I deleted the game from Steam and did all the other stuff?

You know what? I don't even care. It's working again and I can't thank you enough.

Take care..I'm going flying again!

🥳 Great!

Thanks for your feedback.

AFAIK, when Steam uninstalls a game, it doesn't remove files it doesn't know about. Say you copy a .doc file in the middle of your game files, then ask Steam to uninstall the game, your .doc file should survive.
